News Letter for the Week of 10/12

Peek at the Week

  • We are into our second week of Learning Labs and everyone is settling into a nice routine. We started with a new bus company on Monday and things are running smoothly. The children have been receiving OT, PT and Speech during the afternoon hours.
  • Our story this week was, The Hungry Witch by Hands on Holiday Stories.  This story takes a  look at a witch’s Halloween supper.  She eats a wonderful meal of bugs and worms and spiders, but when she decides to add a few children to her plate, she runs.  Children love being grossed out and this Halloween meal is delightfully awful.  There’s a lot of new vocabulary and plenty of opportunities for communication in this story, but the main attraction is simple Halloween fun.
  • We practiced our letter this week.  It was D.
  • We continue to learn about Pets for the October Unique Learning System unit.
  • Made up dinner plates for the hungry witch.

Changes for Asynchronous Learning

Schoology is not as user friendly as I had hoped for you or for me! We are going to go back to using the blog. What I post on the Blog, you will also find posted in Schoology. I will no longer be posting assignments and the lessons will be found in updates for our class. I am hoping this will make life easier for all of us and give you easier access to asynchronous lessons.
