Catching up!
We had an amazing week last week so I apologize for just getting to post all of these pictures!  Thank you SO MUCH to all of our guest readers (moms, dads, and friends) – this is one of my favorite parts of reading month!!!  Let’s not forget about our amazing concert either…I think your kids were pretty awesome 🙂
Quick notes for this week: no spelling, library check-out will be Thursday
Gym Shoes!!
Tomorrow is picture day! Â We also have gym tomorrow and NOT Wednesday because of our concert. Â Please have your child bring their gym shoes in their backpack if they are dressing up for pictures. Â Gym will be at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon.
Don’t forget, Wednesday is a late start AND our concert. Â We perform at 2:00 for the school, and then again at 7:00 p.m. for our family and friends. Â You may drop your student off in the classroom at 6:45 p.m.
Busy, busy!
This has been a very busy day!  We had 2 guest readers (A big thanks to Mrs. Bazzi and Mrs. Elsersy!), an assembly, our PBIS game day reward, and we took our social studies test on the laptops (which we thought was super cool 🙂 )!!  I have lots of pictures to share!  Plus, earlier in the week we had a visit from Officer Hanson.  He read us a story and answered lots of questions about being a police officer.  Just as exciting was the crazy squirrel we had hanging upside down directly outside our window.  Who knew squirrels could do that???  The kids were very sure that I needed to take a picture and post it on the blog, so it’s here somewhere, lol!
Really quick – looking at next week – we have picture day on Tuesday, late start on Wednesday, and don’t forget our concert on Wednesday night!!  It begins at 7:00 p.m. so students can be dropped off in the classroom at 6:45 p.m.  We will also have a science test and a math test on fractions (probably on Thursday).  Here are the study guides for those:  Science Study Guide   Math Unit 8 Study Guide
Last, but not least, if you haven’t signed up to come in and read, we would still love to put you on our schedule! Â Just send me a note with a few ideas for a day/time and I will look at our schedule and then confirm.
Now check out your cute kiddos 🙂
Coming to you live…
from Avery’s dance class and I am having a hard time uploading all of the info I wanted you to have since I am blogging from my phone. I will keep this simple and just give you the reminders for tomorrow:
1. Game day tomorrow afternoon. Kids are welcome to bring a game to play with their friends. Please no video games.
2. Reading minutes are due for Week 2!! Please total the minutes and sign the form.
3. Spelling test tomorrow
4. Library books need to be returned
We have a science test and a math test next week, so I will post the study guides tomorrow. There is also a late start next week.
From the office…
From me…
- Last day for pencil/eraser sale tomorrow (.25 cents each)
- Ms. MacDonald sent home a study guide for social studies today. Â We may need to take the test as early as Thursday (depending on when the computer lab is available), but we are hoping for Friday so they have 3 nights to study.
- We started fractions today in math. Â This is a very short unit! Â We will probably take the test on the 18th. Â They do have homework today.
- Our PBIS reward for February is an afternoon of board games. Â We will do this on Friday, March 11th. Â Students are invited to bring in games from home to play with their friends.
In the News…
Brookies :)
Before I forget…
- Week 2 reading minutes start today and are due next Friday.
- I have an invitation that I intended to send home today and yet here it sits…still on my desk…oops.  I wanted you to have the weekend to think about it and find times that work for you, so I am posting it here, but I will still send it home on Monday 🙂  Parent Invite
Now, the big question… Â How many pictures can 1 teacher take while 3 groups of kids are making brownie batter and the other 3 groups of kids are making chocolate chip cookie dough???? Â The answer… A LOT!! Â (This isn’t even all of them ;))
Football is…
This is where my nephews would say, “Ball is life, Aunt Laura!”  Well, in this case, football is…second to reading!!!! 😉  That was the message of our visitors today from the DHS football team.  Sam and Laith from the Pioneer football team read us a story and then talked to us about the importance of being a student athlete – school first, then sports!  The boys were super!
Lots of reminders for tomorrow:
- READING MINUTES from week 1 are due! Â Please remember to add up the minutes and sign the bottom. Â Every child who reaches the goal of 120 minutes this week will have their name entered into the drawing for lunch with Mrs. Burch.
- Red spelling notebooks are due and we will take our spelling test.
- Library books need to be returned.
- Math test – the study guide was posted on Monday, but here it is again if you need it. Unit 7 math study guide
- We will finish spirit week off tomorrow with sports day.  Students can dress up in a sports uniform, a professional team’s gear, or anything else that shows sports.
- Last, but not least, we are making our ‘brookies’!!
I am exhausted just thinking about it 🙂
