Math :)

  • Math homework today. Please return by Wednesday.
  • We have a math test coming up on Friday.  The focus of the test is adding 2 digit numbers and subtracting 2 digit numbers.  This is something that if you want to, you can easily practice at home.  Students have been practicing with problems like 26+85=? and 57-32=?.  They can use any strategy the are comfortable with to solve the problems.

100th day :)

Sorry I am a day late with my pictures!   The 100th day of school was great.  We had a snack of 100 things, made a 100 second rain storm, rolled a dice 100 times and analyzed the data, flipped a coin 100 times, and more.  Today we are finishing up our writing of “When I am 100 years old…” – we even have a picture of ourselves that make us look kinda old, LOL!  I am behind in my “thank yous” also, so, THANK YOU for your donations, my valentine gifts and cards, and for supporting your student in their 100 day poster project (they looked awesome!)!!!

  • Please try to send 100’s day projects in on the 15th since I don’t really have a ton of space to store them.
  • If you printed a valentine’s list from the blog yesterday, it was missing Sandy’s name at the bottom.  I have updated it.  Her name was on the list sent home, so if you are using the pink one, you’re good!!!
  • If you are turning in a book order, please send it in to me tomorrow morning, or order online by the end of the school day tomorrow (class code MK4VL).  I will sit down after school tomorrow and submit the final order.
  • Yesterday we started a writing piece that explains “how-to” make hot chocolate.  Of course, we had to practice first, LOL!!

  • The February lunch menu had 2nd choice printed incorrectly. The corrections are:  Feb 6-10 is cheese pocket and Feb 13-17 is grilled cheese
  • Game day is Monday for students who earned the January PBIS reward. Students may bring in a board/card game to play.  No electronics please.
  • Information came home today about Valentine’s Day and the 100th day of school.
  • For the 100th day, each student is asked to create a poster that represents 100 things. Posters can be any size.  We have been talking in class about equal groups and arrays so they are encouraged to organize their poster that way. I found some pictures from last year just to give you a visual.

We practiced equal groupings and arrays today…it was delicious 🙂

Coming soon…

  • Report cards will come home tomorrow 🙂  As always, if you have questions or concerns please send me an email.

  • Valentine’s Day AND the 100th day of school are coming up and ended up being right next to each other on the 14th and the 15th! Notes for both things will come home tomorrow.

  • Late start:  Wednesday, Feb 15th

  • Did you see???  Book orders came home yesterday.  The students and I were so excited and found lots of good stuff!  The easiest way to order is online.  Go to scholastic (https://clubs.scholastic.com/) and there should be an orange square on the right that says “parents”.  Enter our classroom code MK4VL and then order away 🙂  You can also order by filling out the order form in the flyer and send that in with a check.  Please place your order, or send it in to me, by next Wednesday, Feb 8th.

  • It was too cold to go outside today, but we have been going out the last few days.  The kids love to be able to go in the snow, but they cannot do that without snow pants or boots, so please continue to send those in.
