Argumentative Essays/The Outsiders
Hello O. L. Smith Community,
Students spent this week learning about the parts of an argumentative essay. Each group of 2-5 students, depending on the class, became an expert in one part of an argumentative essay and created a PowerPoint slide. These slides will be used to teach each other the parts of an argumentative essay and I will be using them to create the rubric for their essays, which will be assigned after break.
Argumentative essays are taught hand-in-hand with “The Outsiders.” We spent today discussing some of the 1950s and 1960s slang vocabulary that we will be seeing as we read. The students were very excited about the vocabulary and are even more excited to jump into a fantastic novel.

Hi Ms. Timph, it’s Gavin O’Brien. I read the blog. So my assignment is to write an argumentative? Please respond.
Gavin,
This assignment is just to read the articles on the Google Classroom page and completed Guided Notes B. We will be writing an argumentative later this card marking. For now, just learn the parts of an argumentative essay using the materials posted in Google Classroom.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me.
