Good afternoon!  It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of March and the end of the third card marking.  This will be the last week in card marking three.  It is important all assignments are turned in on time.  Parent teacher conferences will be the week we come back from spring break on Wednesday, April 10th.  I will not be meeting with every parent this time, but if I need to meet with you I will be sending home a conference slip this week with a time.  Please confirm if that time will work for you or not. This is also the last week for March is Reading Month activities.  We will be shopping at the book fair on Tuesday afternoon. We will be having book bingo on Thursday from 4:30-5:30.  Everyone gets a book.  It will be a lot of fun and I hope everyone can make it!

Here is what we have planned for this week:

Math:  We will be finishing up module 3.  A study guide will come home Wednesday and we will review Thursday.  The test will be on Friday.

Science:  We are continuing to study seeds this week.   We will be observing seed growth and drawing models of our observations.

Reading:  We are focusing on test taking skills in informational reading passages as we prepare for MSTEP.

Writing:  We will be working on passage based writing in response to a reading article.  We are focusing on how to answer the question completely, cite evidence from the text to support the answer, and explain the evidence from our own thoughts and ideas about the topic.

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! This Friday will be CRAZY hair day as we continue to celebrate fun March is Reading Month Activities.

Here is a look at our week ahead.

Math:  We will be working on solving two step word problems and looking for arithmetic patterns.  We will have a topic quiz on Tuesday over the last few lessons covered.  There will not be a study guide for this.

Science:  We will be taking our science test on Tuesday. Study guides went home on Friday.

Reading:  We will be analyzing informational text by looking carefully at pictures and text to obtain information.

Writing:  We are working on writing in response to a reading prompt to prepare for MSTEP.

The Michigan state test -the MSTEP is coming up soon. This will be the first time the students will take this test. Third grade will be taking it at the end of April.  Over these next few weeks we will be focusing a lot of attention on test taking skills and practice with math and reading practice pages.
