Hello Families! What a beautiful weekend we had! We will visit the library for book check out. You must return your old books to get new books. Wednesday will be a late start, students may arrive at 9am for breakfast and school will begin at 9:35am. We will continue DRA testing this week. We will also send home a permission slip for our field trip to Greenfield Village on Thursday, October 10th. Student cost is $10 student must bring a lunch. Chaperones are $10. Here’s what we will be learning this week:
Math – We are learning to interpret products of whole numbers. We will find related multiplication facts by adding and subtracting equal groups in array models.
Reading – We will recount stories and practice finding the central message and supporting details.
Science – We will learn about magnetic force and how forces can be balanced and unbalanced.
Social Studies – We will continue to discuss the climate of the Midwest and the human and natural characteristics of Michigan.
Writing – We will continue developing our skills with personal narrative writing by using a checklist and listening for sequence words and storytelling voice.

Hello families, I hope you had a restful weekend and enjoyed the sunshine on Saturday. It was wonderful to meet everyone last week at Open House. Thank you for joining the blog! This week students should be finishing up NWEA testing and working to finish DRA testing. Friday will be a half day of school with an 11:45 am dismissal. Here’s what we will be doing with our content this week.
Math – We will continue to focus on multiplication and division. We will be using and rotating arrays as we study the commutative property of multiplication.
Social Studies – Students will have a small quiz on Tuesday and should know their address (house number, street name, city, state, zip code). We will use maps to discuss the human and natural characteristics of Michigan.
Science – We will make observations about magnets and begin to discuss force and motion.
Writing – We will begin to develop ideas about events that have happened in our lives that we would like to tell more about in our personal narratives.
Reading – We will use illustrations to gain more knowledge about a story. We will also practice asking and answering questions using our text to support our answers.
