Test Friday
Happy first weekend of Fall! It was nice enjoying the cooler temperatures and I see some leaves changing color on the trees. This week we have our field trip to the apple orchard on Tuesday. It is supposed to rain off and on all day. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. They should wear rain boots or water resistant shoes with socks, a rain jacket, and if possible, provide a poncho. Also, they need to bring a bag lunch that day. Please make sure their first and last name is written on the bag. No glass bottles are allowed. If you are chaperoning please meet in the classroom by 9:00 a.m.
We will be finishing our NWEA testing on Monday. Students need to study spelling daily for their test on Friday. Also, please make sure your child reads at home for at least 20 minutes every night.
Here is our academic focus for the week.
This week we will continue to learn multiplication and division strategies using tape diagrams.
We will be learning about the natural characteristics of Michigan including Michigan’s vegetation and climate.
We are still studying fiction texts and will read to describe characters’ actions and motivations and how they contribute to the sequence of events.
The students seem to be having fun with the narratives that we have started. This week we will begin drafting our narratives and focusing on leads.
