We will conclude/wrap up the film T-W and begin writing our CLAIMS and introductory paragraphs on Wed. You will need to choose evidence that fits your CLAIM from all the resources you have from the classwork/homework on the video clips, text sets, and film.  Please HIGHLIGHT evidence that is usuable for your paper. You may need to continue drafting at home. Thursday will be a draft completion day–rest of body and conclusion, and Friday we’ll be proofreading,editing,and printing the Final Copy in the library. Essays are due by the END of the hour!

HOMEWORK FOR ALL HONORS!

You must also search for an article of your own choosing about organ donation.  You may choose to find one on the negative aspects/outcomes or go in a different direction, but remember that your final essay has to address a counter-argument.  Please WRITE the information on a separate piece of paper to be turned in tomorrow!

  1. Article title, publication, date, and author
  1. Write 3 important pieces of textual evidence from the article.
  1. A Golden Line is the BEST and MOST IMPORTANT line in the article. The Golden Line may be a startling fact, a fascinating expert opinion, a summation of the author’s claim or some other appealing line.  Write a Golden Line for your article.
  1. Why did you choose the Golden Line above? List three insightful reasons why this is the most important line.  Be specific and include depth in your insight.
  1. Finally, create one ARGUMENTATIVE CLAIM and its counter argument based on the article. Your claim can be in support or refutation of the article.  The claim must include a strong opinion.  Take a stand.

Book Talk materials–Visual aid and note card MUST be submitted Friday by the end of class to be considered on time.  You may bring the rubric (see resource on blog) for extra credit.  Staple to the rest of your book talk (name/hr on everything).

Book Talk Directions/Rubric (2nd/5th)

Read and follow directions to complete the Book Talk.  We will work on the materials in class Thursday.  Book Talks must be turned in Friday by the END of class for FULL credit; otherwise, points will be deducted from the presentation grade next week.  If you PRINT and staple the RUBRIC to your project materials on FRIDAY, I will add 1 point to your score 🙂

Due to the snow day, the Unit 2 Test will be moved to Wednesday.  Please bring

AOW #8 as well as your review sheet on Tuesday. There will be passage review

to practice skills and time to go over the review sheet with your table group.

Writer’s Notebook prompt #8 will be moved to Friday so that I have time to grade AOW annotations.

HONORS–Please have chapters 6-9 of Lord of the Flies read by Thursday.  There will be group work that day for the novel.
