Finish your analysis of the film version of the story we read :”The Murderer.” If you missed class, it is attached below. You may want to re-watch it on Youtube. The link is on the assignment. It is about 20 min. long. DUE: MONDAY
Novel Reading: PART 1- Read pgs. 2-32 (from “Ylla” through the end of “The Taxpayer”). Complete the analysis for “Ylla,” “The Earthmen,” and one other story of your choice from this section. The analysis format and sample is attached below. DUE: TUESDAY

LA 3 Practice Passage for Final Exam
ELA 3 Reading Practice for Common Assessment (1)
Print, complete, and bring to class on Monday. Bring your questions/confusions/struggles and we will discuss the answers on Monday to prepare for the exam. I will have an additional piece on Monday as well.
Also, bring your grammar post test review questions.
2nd hr Social Issue Essay
We will be writing the first half of our essay in class today and completing it on Friday. I have your resource packets, so all you need to bring is a pen!
HONORS Essay Info.
Please bring your research(from the website assignment) on the four temperaments (Personality & Lord of the Flies) to class the rest of the week as well as your novel. I will give back your graded graphic organizers to use as a source of information/text evidence in class. The notes you take tomorrow(during partner discussion) will also be an allowable resource on writing days, so make sure you use your class time well. It should be submitted at the end of class and I will look them over and return them on Thursday. In addition, review the basic organizational structure of argument below. Essay writing will be on Thursday and Friday IN CLASS.
Intro. paragraph: intro subject and provide claim with three reasons
Body 1: First reason, Flies TE/insight; 2nd TE/insight
Body 2: Second reason, Flies TE/insight; 2nd TE/insight
Body 3: Third reason, Flies TE/insight; 2nd TE/insight
Conclusion Paragraph: thesis restated; sum up/real world connection/lesson
*a counter-argument/rebuttal must be in one of the body paragraphs and is one of your pieces of text evidence!
Allowable resources: *Chapter 1-6 G.O., *Chapter 7-12 G.O., Personality and Lord of the Flies research assignment (temperaments), novel Lord of the Flies, and Essay Prep notes (Wed). All assignments must have been previously graded/stamped in order to be used while writing. No resources may be shared! Writing will ONLY be done in class. Writing will be collected on Thursday, stamped, and returned for completion on Friday. Please use your time well. I expect that you will be able to write your introduction/claim, and 1-2 body paragraphs on Thursday, and then finish the final body paragraph and conclusion paragraph on Friday. The argument rubric will be used to score the essay holistically for development of ideas, referencing of several sources, correct MLA, adherence to directions, and organization of the essay.
