Incoming 10th grade Honors Students–Summer reading/Work

Posted by Genevieve Sullivan on June 16, 2017 in Class News |

Please use the following resources if you lost the copy given to you by your 9th grade teacher. Summer novel work is due the first FULL day of class.  It will serve as your resource for your in class impromptu essay on the Catcher in the Rye which will be completed at the end of the first week.  Choose good text evidence and add thoughtful insight!  Don’t forget the page numbers for quotes. You will need this information for MLA.

For your choice book: Write the MLA citation and a brief summary on a note card. On the back of the card, please evaluate what you liked and disliked about the book and your reasons. Also, provide a rating and who you would recommend it to.  Create a small drawing on an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of construction paper that captures a moment in the plot or relates to a theme.  It can be a collection of symbols if you wish.  Be prepared to explain it aloud as a quick presentation to the class in the first few days of school
