Incoming 10th grade HONORS students-Summer Work!

Please read a minimum of TWO books: one of your own choosing and The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.  Attached is the summer work for the novel.  It is due the first FULL day back to school.  Honors classes may NOT turn in LATE work for CREDIT so please be prepared!  It must be typed or done neatly in INK.  NO PENCIL!

For your choice book: Write the MLA citation and a brief summary on a note card. On the back of the card, please evaluate what you likedand disliked about the book and your reasons. Also, provide a rating and who you would recommend it to.  Create a small drawing on an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of construction paper that captures a moment in the plot or relates to a theme.  It can be a collection of symbols if you wish.  Be prepared to explain it aloud as a quick presentation to the class in the first few days of school.
