Family, STEM and Distance Learning

Now that we are coming close to ending week 2 of distance learning, I wanted to share some of my OWN personal experiences and what I have seen from some of my students!

Mrs. Stetz’s Family: We have been diving right into distance learning and have had MANY bumps along the way. With three boys at home ages 9, 5 and 2, it feels like I take one step forward and 5 steps back! We have managed a “somewhat” schedule with math and Literacy on MWF and Literacy, writing and science Tues and Thurs. I also have to remind myself that the way my kids are learning is different and there will be mistakes, new experiences and time. Same with the way I support students at my schools and what I have been doing. I do know that my kids are missing school and their own friends and amazing teachers, but we will be back in the swing of things soon 🙂

Students: My Lego maze activity was a hit at my house and a family that I received these awesome pictures from!! These are the Szasz boys from Long Elementary! What an awesome job and great mazes! I love seeing student work and faces during this shutdown! Send me pictures to stetzk@dearbornschools.org or on class dojo!

I might have uploaded this site before but I think it’s great! It allows you to pick materials that you may have at home and gives you something to create! https://pbskids.org/designsquad/build/spinner/?fbclid=IwAR0gRbvBRkrP2KBXLi5D2bPcb4jLFVf3Y_n6pucMim-dnytiy_Oqnllahks

I have also been listening to some cool podcasts for kids!

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
