I will continue to  ALWAYS post and upload homework assignments on Remind on a daily basis because activities and lessons subject to change due to student pace and understanding of lesson.

Monday:

  • Bellwork: Journal Square #3  ( add one idiom, one metaphor, one onomatopoeia)
  • Classwork: collect 3 idiom cards
  • introduce Greek & Latin folder
  • Notes: why are we learning Greek & Latin root words?
  • Introduce Poetry Notes
  •  Homework: Poetry terms written in Fab. Vocab. Boxed in BLUE

Tuesday: No School

 

Wednesday:

  • Bellwork: Figurative Language Poem
  • Classwork: check Fab. Vocab. Poetry Terms
  • continue Poetry Notes
  • practice rhyme scheme using Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes

  • Classwork: Last day to work on Plot Project- final draft is due at the end of the hour!

Thursday:

  • Bellwork: 15 extra minutes to work on plot project
  • Classwork:  return Article of the Week #4 & review 10 S.A.R questions for “Seventh Grade”
  • homework: bring a three prong folder by Monday

Friday:

  • Bellwork: Word Nerd
  • Classwork:  Word Nerd # 5

  • All responses must be color coded, labeled, and please skip lines
  • Article of the Week #4
  • Survival word activity- pre- reading
  • Annotate using half sheet with sentence starters
  • One Page Reflection Due Wed. ( color code and label)

Tuesday:

  • Introduce Plot project for “Seventh Grade”
  • Show student sample project
  • Review Plot by watching 2 short music videos
  • Idiom Review #1

Wednesday:

  • Introduce Word Nerd #5
  • Continue Plot Project
  • Collect AoW #4

  • Turn In Alliteration Project ( MUST be colorful, neat, straight lines, NO PENCIL ALLOWED)
  • Bring in a folder with 3 prongs
  • Journal Square #1 DUE ( one example of a simile, metaphor, personification)
  • Students are to work with a partner ( I already chose your partner) for “The Wise King” activity:
  • Annotate/ talk to the text
  •  Q.A.R.- Must complete all 7 steps of Q.A.R.
  • S.A.R.- Must skip lines, color code & label paragraph

Tuesday:

  • Design folder for ” It’s all Greek and Latin to Me”
  • D.O.L
  • Take Notes for page #1 of Greek/Latin folder
  • Introduce Versa Tiles- review  Figurative language

Wednesday:

  • “It’s  all Greek & Latin to Me” #1
  • Introduce “Can You Guess the idiom?” card game
  • Journal Square #2
  • Homework: Greek& Latin #1- define & illustrate ( due Friday)

  • Define: figurative language, simile, metaphor, alliteration, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idiom, personification)
  • Include 2 pictures/2 sentences
  • NO PENCIL ALLOWED!

Tuesday:

  • Rough Draft for Alliteration Project due
  • Continue working on Figurative Language Stations

Wednesday- Friday

  • Work on Figurative language Stations:
  • Idioms in Amelia Bedelia Books
  • Figurative language review using Versa Tiles- S.A.R. reflection
  • One Lucky Guy Q.A.R/S.A.R -focus on simile, metaphor, personification
  • Read to self/ Fab. Vocab.–box in GREEN
  • Wise King Q.A.R/S.A.R
  • Hailstones and Halibut Bones- exploring figurative language through color
  •  Book Fair $$$$$

  • Introduce Q.A.R/S.A.R. comprehension questions for “Seventh Grade”

Thursday:

  • Continue working on comprehension questions with assigned partner
  • Word Nerd #4

Friday:

  • Collect comprehension qustions
  • Introduce Plot Project
