 6th grade ELA Winter Packet:

 

Due: January 4, 2016

Total points: 50

Extra Credit:  5 points if narrative essay is typed-12 font

Skip Lines if you are handwriting it!

 

This week, we completed reading and analyzing the short story, “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury. Many of you voiced your concerns and curiosity about the ending of the story. You questioned whether or not Margot forgave the students who locked her in the closet and robbed her of seeing the sun she longed for. Your assignment is to write part 2 of the story “All Summer in a Day”. Remember- YOU are the author!

You can have Margot:

  • Forgive the students
  • Not forgive them
  • Remain living  on Venus unhappy
  • Return back home to Ohio
  • Finally adjust to her new home on Venus
  • Your own ideas…..…..

 

Directions:

 

  • Complete the Pyramid of Action organizer
  • Include: SMDI in paragraphs 2 & 3 ( similes, metaphors, dialogue, imagery)

 

    • Paragraph 1:  decide where the setting of your story takes place, who the characters are and what the problem is.
    • Paragraph 2: Include all the events/ problems leading up to the climax–remember, this is where the suspense is building.
    • Paragraph 3: state the climax ( where the character changes/learns something) and include the falling action. All the reader’s questions have been answered.
    • PLEASE INDENT

 

  • Paragraph 4: State the resolution and the theme- what is the lesson learned? What does the character learn? Does she change?

 

 

 

  • Remember: YOU MUST INCLUDE 3 OF THE VOCABULARY WORDS ATTACHED. PLEASE HIGHLIGHT THE THREE EXAMPLES!!!!!
