We continued working on our argumentative essay today! Students are now finished with writing 3 paragraphs: two body paragraphs and a counterargument. Tomorrow we will outline our introduction and conclusions and begin typing.
IXL due tomorrow: 90% or higher on 2 recommended ELA skills.
Hello!
This week we have begun argumentative writing! Students will be writing a 5 paragraph argumentative essay addressing the following question: Should schools start later?
Yesterday we read an article and annotated. Students are responsible for writing at least three summaries and three connections as they read. They also highlighted reasons that school SHOULD start later in green, and highlighted reasons school should NOT start later in yellow.
Today students will begin writing an outline for their main arguments- body paragraphs 1 and 2.
Make sure you are keeping up with our daily work on this essay so you do not fall behind!
IXL homework for this week: Complete at least 20 questions on the Diagnostic for Language Arts (all students should have completed this in class Monday). Complete (with a 90% or higher) two skills from the Recommendations tab. This is due Friday!
Happy half day!
Today we wrote a CERER about the mini mystery Fred’s Fatal Fall. Below is the organizer that students used https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ox2MKliiY2Qd71KNGspR7l2weCDtNnfUrtPUSc7_XbM/edit
The final CERER is due tomorrow. This is the first grade of the card marking!
Students also have an opportunity to earn extra credit on their card marking 3 grade. Bring a good fit book to class tomorrow! Be ready to read 🙂 If you are prepared with this book, you will earn 5 points of extra credit.
Happy Friday and half day! Just a reminder that Card Marking 2 ends today. We are officially halfway through the school year!
There is no school on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday are both half days.
Have a great weekend!!
Hello all!
ELA Update: We took the Reading NWEA test on Monday and Tuesday. We will be finishing the test over the next few days! Please continue to make sure you are getting a good night of sleep and coming prepared to do your best 🙂
Our next unit of study will be argumentative writing. Over the next few weeks we will be analyzing informational text, creating strong claims, and backing them up with evidence and reasoning. This unit will lead to a final 5 paragraph essay.
The card marking ends this FRIDAY, January 17th. Make sure to have all late work turned in no later than Friday! Check your grades on Student Connect in order to be aware of where your final grade is at.
Good afternoon!
We will be taking the reading NWEA. Make sure you get lots of rest and a good breakfast. We want all students to show off what they learned in our class and show growth. We know you can do it!
