NYLF STEM Program Student Recommendations

Some students have been receiving letters in the mail about a recommendation for a STEM program. Here’s the information for it:

  1. At the beginning of the year, teachers were able to nominate students in their class that they think would enjoy participating in the STEM program.
  2. The program is completely option and is separate from Dearborn Schools STEM.
  3. Here is the website where you can register and find out more information: https://www.envisionexperience.com/explore-our-programs/national-youth-leadership-forum-pathways-to-stem

About the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM

Future STEM Leaders

“NYLF Pathways to STEM is a unique learning experience for bright, forward-thinking elementary school students who will evolve into next generation innovators, engineers, doctors, software developers, and scientists.”

“Students learn by doing during hands-on simulations and workshops. They also have the opportunity to choose the experience that is best suited for them by selecting either the six-day Residential or the five-day Day program.”

“Virtually all career fields today require a solid foundation of STEM. That’s precisely why these are the fastest growing areas of study, and the reason that STEM professionals are in the highest demand in the United States and throughout the world. Early exposure to these fields can set today’s kids on a path to success by giving them the tools needed to make informed decisions about the future.”

“NYLF Pathways to STEM is a fantastic opportunity for curious and high-aspiring young students to make new friends and enjoy unforgettable adventures while exploring the frontiers of 21st century science and technology.” – https://www.envisionexperience.com/explore-our-programs/national-youth-leadership-forum-pathways-to-stem

Welcome to 2020!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back from our winter break! I hope that you were able to rest and enjoy time with family.

Just a few reminders for the upcoming weeks:

  • NWEA testing begins – for our class, we will begin with Reading next week on Wednesday! Make sure you’re reading at home for at least 20 minutes a day and making sure you comprehend, or understand, what the book means.
  • The iReady Diagnostic test will also be next week on Monday and Tuesday.
  • I will be administering the DRA reading diagnostic tests to students one-on-one starting this week. I am hoping to see growth for all students! 🙂

Given that we are in wintery weather days, please remember to wear a warm coat, hat and gloves, especially if you walk home. If the weather permits, students have outdoor recess…be prepared!
