The last week of September already!

Hello families and students,

It is the last week of September, already! How hard to believe that almost a month has passed!

This week we will be busy after a very short week last week!

In math we will continue with our unit on geometry. We will really dive deep into how to distinguish between shapes, by using the angles and lines we’ve learned about to sort and understand what is happening with the shapes. Our biggest focus will be on quadrangles (four sided shapes) but we will also talk about other shapes, up to ten sides.

In Science, we will continue to talk about solids, liquids, and gases. We will talk about how the states of matter change, and what they are made up of.

In Social Studies, we will go over map skills and landforms before we delve into the regions of the United States. I am very excited to get into regions, this is one of my favorite projects of the year!

In writing, we will continue our narrative stories. We will begin our drafts, and hopefully go all the way into our final drafts. This week is also the district writing common assessment.

Please continue to encourage your child to read every night! This is a major component of the school year and will help in every subject area!

One more thing- we will be starting spelling this week. The spelling list will be found in the planner.

Have a great week, everyone!
