Are you a Dreamer?
Good Morning,
Hope you had a relaxing and nice long weekend with your family and friend. On my end, I had a chance to meet up with one of my daughters and my two granddaughters. I would like to thank you for your hard work with your child, and encourage you to continue helping them and supporting them. Here are a couple reminders about homework:
Every student should have a Homework folder that goes home at the end of the day. Please check if it is still in a good shape.
Planners: We write everyday to record homework, test, and behavior. Please check them and initial them.
Reading: Read…Read…Read anything and everything for 30 minutes. On- line sites count too. (Check websites inside the planner). Fluency is reading too with comprehension question. If you want your child to raise his/her reading level, then, you guessed it, reading is the answer!
Math: We are working on multiplication quizzes everyday. There is a practice sheet that comes home daily. Also, three day of the week, a math homework sheet related to what we are learning in class is sent too. Students are so excited to take the quizzes. Ask them about it. A letter came home last week to explain the procedures for the multiplication quizzes. Students move up in the levels until they master all tables.
Spelling: Every week we have a new list. I highly recommend that students understand the rule first. and write the words three times each.
Field Trip: Lansing field trip is coming up in the early part of February. Permission slips are coming home soon. Our class will need at least 10 chaperons. Please consider volunteering because it is a long day and far away, we can use all the help we can get 🙂
Have a wonderful week!

I am so excited to see you tomorrow, and to continue learning. I have high expectations that we will achieve our highest potentials in 2016. You are the best!

P.S. Remember to bring your Winter packet with you tomorrow for a surprise prize. Bundle up, it’s verrrrrrrry cold outside!
Thank You!
Dear Parents,
First, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the thoughtful gifts that you sent me with your child. Each one of them is very special to me, and greatly appreciated. Also, thank you for all the treats and gifts you sent with your child to share with the other students. You made our classroom one happy place.
To end with a nice note, the students and I had a wonderful 2015, and hoping for an even better 2016. You are the main reason why they are successful. Thank you and please continue your hard work with them so your child will be the best they can be. Wishing you a happy holiday and a Happy New Year!
Winter Break Reading Challenge for all students!
WinterBreakMarshmallowReadingChallenge
Dear Families and Students,
I am so happy to announce our Winter Break Reading Challenge. All of my students are invited to read for 30 minutes during the winter break. Please forgive me for not providing a hard copy for the students because I just heard about this very exciting challenge that teacher and students all across the nation are taking on. If you don’t have a printer at home, you can just copy those challenges on a piece of paper and let your children try them.
I want my students to be a part of this fun challenge, and I am sure you do too. Please help me explain the challenge to them and get them excited about reading. As in incentive, our class will have a hot chocolate with marshmallows party! It is so important that they read every day so they won’t drop a level or two.
Thanks for your help, and I wish you a great break and a happy New Year to all of our dear students and families.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Shakarchi
