NEWS FROM THE PTA

Our PTA meeting was a great success last night and lots of new info was discussed.  We are excited for a new year and also establishing some new rules that will help make things move more smoothly for all of us.  Our families voted to implement our new PTA code of conduct which all members are required to follow.
A new requirement for our PTA this year is that all Homeroom Parents have a 2019-2020 paid PTA membership and a current background check.  Due to dealings with cash, payments, donations and access to our tax ID form and our students, our HRP’s must follow the mission and goals of the PTA and be safe for our students.  All HRP memberships must be paid and forms turned in by Monday, September 9th, 2019 to be considered for the HRP role.  All background checks and memberships will be validated with our records.  Our first mandatory meeting will be Friday, September 13th.  You can attend either the am mtg (8:45am) OR pm mtg(3:15pm) in the cafeteria.  More details to follow on the mtg.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our first Scholastic book fair of the year is here starting Monday, September 9! Monday will be our preview day. Purchase dates are NOON UNTIL 4:00 Tuesday through Thursday. We will also be open at the Thursday open house! We are still looking for parent volunteers. Sign up through the link below if you are available. Thank you so much! FROM THE PTA……

Welcome Lindbergh Parents, we are so excited to have you as part of our Lindbergh family.  We have so many great opportunities for you and your student/s and we would love for you to be a part of any and all these activities. My name is Danielle Lewis and I am the Mother Vice President of the PTA.  This is my 3rd year involved in the PTA as VP and 4th year as a very involved parent. I have two students at Lindbergh this year – Dominic Lewis (3rd grade- Robey) and Gianna Lewis (K- Miller). There is nothing more exciting for your young one but to have you involved with their life at school.  And as a parent it is so rewarding.  One opportunity to be involved is by being a Homeroom Parent!!!! This role can be filled by mom, dad, aunt, uncle, grandparents…. anyone who can be available for a few events throughout the year.

As a Homeroom Parent you are a support for the teacher and the students and families in your classroom.  We have 3 main responsibilities for our HR Parents at Lindbergh.  We have 2 meetings a year that require attendance on your part.  Each meeting has an AM or PM meeting time that we request you attend one so that you have all the info for our events, as well as any rules/policies.

1.        Holiday Boutique Baskets– Each Lindbergh classroom is assigned a basket theme and collects donations from local businesses/establishments/classroom donations to create an amazing basket to be raffled off at our Holiday Boutique in November.  The more desirable the basket…the more tickets we sell….and all the money made comes directly back to our teachers.  Last year each teacher received $500 towards their classroom.  Your job as HRP is to work on getting donations and getting your classroom involved in the donations.  We will assemble the basket and wrap them up before the boutique. *required meeting

2.       Classroom Parties and events.  You along with any other HRP’s work together to plan parties with the teachers/students on their special days.  This is the best part!!!!

3.       Teacher Appreciation Week-During the month of May we have teacher appreciation week during which time we create posters to show appreciation for our teachers and decorate their doors.  We also work with the classes for any special gifts or surprises during this week.  *required meeting

This role is essential for our teachers.  Your support in your children’s education and the fun events as well, encourages the loving, Leader in Me community that Lindbergh is so proud of.  I hope that you can join our team of involved parents and if you have any question at all you can contact me directly.   Please email your teachers by September 6th, so we can get our HRP meeting scheduled ASAP.

*****Parents  (Include Parents name/ email/phone that we can contact you with/students name/ Indicate if you plan to be HR parent for more than one student.)*****
