Conference Time: I am looking forward to meeting with you and discuss your child’s success in science during conferences.  Conferences are taking place on Monday 11/13 & Tuesday 11/14 from 4-7 pm.  In order to meet with every parent present, there will be a 5-minute time limit p

er conference.  However if you would like to meet to further discuss your child, please leave your information on the sheet I provide outside of my classroom to have a phone conference or schedule another time we could meet. Thank you for your patienc

e in advance.  *Reminder*There will be three different tables organized in the atrium in alphabetical order. If a parent has three children, they won’t have to stand in three different lines for their 6th, 7th and 8th grader. Instead, they will get all three in one spot and will be ready to go visit their teachers. Support staff will be distributing report cards.

Book Fair:  The book fair is open all week long and it will also be open during conferences.

Can Drive:  Smith students and staff are taking part in the annual can drive which is 

also known  “Battle Against Hunger” .  Please visit Smith website for additional information. 

Late Start:  Wednesday 11/15 is a late start.  Bell rings at 8:50 a.m. instead of 7:50 a.m.

 

In Science this week……

  • We will complete our lecture and discussions regarding the characteristics of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
  • Students will be given time in class to collaborate with their home project partners.  **Projects are due on Monday 11/20 for B-Day students and Tuesday 11/21 for A-Day students. 
  • Homework for students this week is to create flashcards of vocabulary words we mentioned in class.  (assignment will be posted on Google Classroom).
  • Test on Thursday and Friday regarding the characteristics of cells and kingdom classification.  There will be a paper version along with a computer version for students.
