Please Read!

Stout students,
I wanted to let you know that we will be moving away from using Google Meet for our live sessions. As we move to a different platform, many of your teachers will be posting videos of new lessons or offering smaller live sessions by invitation only. We appreciate that many students are serious about their education and want to learn. We are making these changes for these students. Over the past few days, a few students have made the selfish choice to disrupt the learning of their classmates. We will be contacting the parents of these students.
I want to remind students that while we are learning from home, we still expect you to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and safety in everything that you do. We were very disappointed to hear about students disrupting their classes, other classes, and even classes at other schools. Please note that inappropriate behavior will still be recorded in students’ permanent records and that the following consequences may be assigned if students are disrupting the learning of others:

  • Parents will be contacted
  • Students can receive no credit for participation in a lesson/on an assignment.
  • Students can lose their technology privileges. Your student account can be suspended.
  • Students can be issued a paper packet of work instead of online learning.
  • Students can be required to attend Summer School if they were unable to appropriately participate in online learning.

Please check your teachers’ blogs, Google Classroom, and iLearn sites regularly for information about what lessons will look like as we transition to a different platform. While a few teachers may still use Google Meet in a very limited fashion, many teachers will be presenting their lessons differently. Thank you to the many students who expressed concerns about how instruction was working using Google Meet. We truly appreciate your feedback.
Mr. Oke
