Students will analyze fiction texts, identify plot elements and cite textual evidence to support claim (CER).
Students will apply structured reading and writing , complete plot Diagram and will orally present it. It will be graded as a summative assessment.
U.S. History
Unit of Study: Early Explorations of New World
Students will read and analyze an informational book and learn significant facts about Age of discovery. Student will learn new academic vocabulary.
They will complete Frayer model and Cornell Notes.
Study Skills
Lesson Focus: Order of Operations
Students will learn how to solve equations using Order of Operations.
Physical Science
Unit of Study: The Scientific Method
They will read and analyze informational texts and create foldable/ thinking maps.
They will learn new academic vocabulary.

Summer Learning Expectations
According to Johns Hopkins University, the effects of summer learning loss can result in nearly a three-month loss in grade-level equivalency in math and a two-month loss in grade-level equivalency in reading. In order to close the summer learning loss gap in reading and math, middle school students will be expected to complete Summer Learning before they return in the fall. Teachers will grade the completed summer work when school opens in August. Below are the literacy expectations by building name.
