Hello Y5 Families,

My apologies for not posting resources for today. Our internet and cable went out with the high winds and I’m still waiting for service to return. I’m currently using family’s internet to reach out to you.

Below are some resources for Mon./ Tues.:

New Sight Word:

look

Cut, make, paste and trace the following sentence with the word “look” in it.

Writing:

Write a sentence with this sentence stem:

“I like to look at _________” (all sight words we know).

Be sure to divide your paper in half. Include an illustration at the top. Your sentence on the bottom. Don’t forget a capital letter at the beginning, finger space in between words and punctuation.

Math:

Cut, paste and trace numbers in order from 1-20

Math Game:

Find 2 dice from your board game. Roll it and color the matching leaf.

Science:

Draw 4 things that happen in Spring that you learned from the book. You can also “stretch your sounds and write” to label your pictures:

Happy Thursday!  If you are following the Spirit Week activities from home today is “Family Self-ie” day.

Send the picture to me and I’ll pass it onto Mrs. Tiba for our school slideshow.  In addition to the Kindergarten Google classroom below are some resources for today:

Ideas for Read Aloud Stories:

Writing/ Sight Word:

Try drawing along with this lesson.  When you’re done with your butterfly use one of the following “sentence stems” to write a sentence about your picture:

·         My butterfly is…..

·         My butterfly likes to…….

·         I can see a _______ butterfly.

Did you write a complete sentence using our sight words? Remember a capital letter, finger space and punctuation!


Math:

Field trip!  Take a look at the Live Cams at the San Diego Zoo.  Count how many animals you see!

Students: can you rainbow write the word my 5 times?

Here are some “my” sentences to practice reading. Use your reading finger!

Writing:

Write the author of the Pete the Cat books and use the following sentence stem:

“I like the Pete book…..”

Math

Try some more domino addition!

I believe the weather is suppose to be warmer this afternoon. Hope you can get outside for some fresh air and “Sharpen Your Saw” (Habit 7).

Sight word:

Make it, trace it and circle it! See below:

Writing:

Finish this sentence stem on a piece of paper.

“My mom is…..”

Don’t forget to divide your paper in half so you have space for the story and space for your illustration. Things also to remember: 2 finger spaces between words, punctuation, and your illustration should have characters and a setting.

Math

Keep counting! Count by 1’s, 5’s, 10’s and 2’s

Fine motor:

Let’s learn a new sight word:

Can you cut and paste a sentence together with the word “my”:

Math:

Can you count the dots on the dominoes and make an addition sentence? Use one of the problems and draw the dots of the dominoes in a number bond.

Keep writing your numbers. Don’t forget to write the “1” first when writing those tricky teens!

Hello Y5 Families,

Here are some resources for today. Remember that everything posted on the blog and in Google Classroom is a resource centered around topics we would be learning if we were in school. DO NOT BE OVERWHELMED. The most important thing is the health and well-being of your family.

Sight Word Practice:

Instead of a new “little book” for your reading bag practicing the word “is”, try reading these sentences. You can print them and circle the word “is” or you can just read them off the computer screen. Remember to use your reading finger!

Here are some more sentences to practice reading using the previous sight words we’ve learned:

At our “word work” station in class we were stamping the -ending sound of a word. Try this:
