Great news! If you were worried about what size to order, we now have sample apparel in the office for you to view. We are also extending the due date for orders till January 17. Keep those orders coming and show your Lindbergh pride!
Lindbergh is proud to have earned both Blue Ribbon and Lighthouse status this year! None of this would have been possible without each and every member of the Lindbergh community flying the spirit of success together. For this reason we thought it would be nice to have new shirts made to show our Lindbergh pride! Please complete the order form if you are interested in any of the items and return it to your child’s classroom teacher with the correct amount in cash by Tuesday, January 14, 2020. All shirts will be in the color royal blue to symbolize our prestigious Blue Ribbons status!
Listed below you will find the order form for our shirts as well as the design.
For tonight’s homework, your child will be practice rounding three digit and four digit numbers to the nearest hundred. For some, this was a challenging subject. Please review the video below with your child.
In addition, students will be expected to complete their Lesson 14 Homework questions 1a-1e, 2a-2c, and 4.
If you have any questions feel free to reach out at anytime!
Today was our first day back from break, and I absolutely LOVED hearing about all of the family adventures that you had over break. The students loved sharing their winter break snapshot (stories). Since we are getting back into the swing of things we are going to ease our way back into school life this week. There will be no spelling test for this upcoming week.
Along with starting a brand new year, we also will be starting out mid-year assessment period for students. During the month of January students will be taking the NWEA assessment. This is the standardized assessment that is taken three times a year. Students will complete their math, reading, and language NWEA. Please remind students of proper test taking strategies and continue working on those lead measures.
We also began our DRA reading assessment today. Students will read independently with me and will showcase their reading growth. Make sure to keep up with the blog for all of the upcoming assessments.
Listed below is the content we will be covering this week.
Reading- DRA testing begins this week. Identifying non literal meanings within fictional text-similes, reviewing our fictional unit on how choices affect characters, and beginning reading informational text to identify a main idea.
Writing- Wrapping our draft for our own fables, practicing revising our writing to provide more detailed words, and editing for spelling mistakes.
Math- Rounding two and three digit numbers, practicing solving addition and subtraction problems, and reviewing measurement.
Social Studies – Comparing the Three Fires Tribes, analyzing Native American legends, discuss how native american tribes modified and adapted to their environment
Leader in Me- Habit 4: Think win-win. Discussing how thinking win-win is a way of life- a mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. It’s not me or you, its both of us. Thinking win-win is a foundation for getting along with others and solving problems.
Tonight your child will be taking home their Mid Module Task Assessment for Module 2. Note we are moving away from points with the math assessments. We are following the Eureka Math standards based rubric. Which in order to be within range for each area, there is a criteria. I grade each problem with the following criteria below. The area where the student falls the most is how their grade is finalized.
Exceeding/4- Evidence of solid reasoning with a correct answer.
Meeting/3- Evidence of some reasoning with a correct answer or evidence of solid reasoning with an incorrect answer.
Progressing/2- Evidence of some reasoning with out a correct answer.
Below/1- Little evidence of reasoning without the correct answer.
The rubric that I used to grade your child’s assessment can be found below:
Please sign your child’s test and return it tomorrow. For those students who fell to the 1-2 range I will be working closely with your child to correct their test. If you have any questions feel free to let me know!

At 2:30-3:30 we will be wrapping up Grinch Day with our classroom holiday party which will be a “Who Feast” just like the movie. Students will be treated to Grinch inspired snacks, Grinch Punch (7-Up and lime sherbet), and we will be watching the original Grinch movie.
To help us celebrate, Students are encouraged to come up with their most Grinch inspired clothes! Some options could include; creative “Who” clothes and hairdos, wearing green like the Grinch, or even sporting some antlers like Max the dog. The options are endless!
In order to make this Grinch Celebration happen, we are looking for a few donations. If you could donate to make our Who Feast a magical time we would appreciate it. Along with donations, if you would like to attend our Who Feast please RSVP by reaching out to me!
Today in class we had an unexpected visitor show up: the Grinch! He for sure gave us some laughs and caused some chaos today! Apparently, he was not having our holiday cheer in our classroom. He told us he was here to stop the cheer. However, he did leave us a great book for our classroom, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
