Welcome

Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited to have you in my classroom!

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome to Mrs. Rida’s classroom. The following policies and procedures have been implemented to insure a successful school year. In order for this to happen we must all work together, communicate and cooperate. If at any time you need to contact me regarding your student you may contact me through school email: ridaf@dearbornschools.org

Classroom Guidelines:

  1. Always be prepared and respectful.
  2. Raise your hand before speaking.
  3. Work quietly so others may work too.
  4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
  5. Always do your best!

School Work/ Assignments:

Each day assignments are given following classroom instruction. It is expected that your child finish as much as possible in school. Assignments that are not completed should be taken home and returned to school finished the next day in order to receive credit. Incomplete assignments will result in lower marks on the report card and restriction from special activities. Effective use of class time is the goal. Any child who misses work due to other activities that pull her/him from the classroom is expected to be responsible to make up the work.

Homework/Absent Work:

Homework is assigned daily and I expect it to be completed neatly and on time. If work is not turned in on time the student may not receive credit for that assignment, excluding absent work. Your child will be given 2 days for each absence to return the missing assignments.

Testing Policy:

When tests are given, a quiet atmosphere is required! Students are expected to do their own work and remain quiet until ALL tests are completed and collected. Failure to follow this policy will result in a zero on the test. Parents/Guardians will be notified if this occurs. All tests will be sent home once they are graded. It should be signed and returned to school the next day.

Planners:

Students will be given a planner. This book is required to be filled out with daily homework assignments. Please ask your student for this book and help him/her be prepared and organized for the following day. Please sign this book daily to show your child that you are checking for completion of homework assignments.  If a student loses the planner, it will be the student’s responsibility to purchase another from the office.

Snacks:

Our lunchtime this year is from 12:00 – 12:38. Your child may bring a healthy snack. No dessert-type snacks allowed (cookies, cupcakes, etc). Research shows that hydration is connected to learning. I encourage all students to bring a water bottle to keep at their seat to use throughout the day. Please make sure the water is in a plastic container that has a re-closable top with your child’s name on it.

I am looking forward to a healthy, productive year of learning for your child!

Sincerely,

Mrs.  Rida
