Code of Conduct Assembly and Half Day Friday

Today, we had a code of conduct assembly to discuss with Ms. Younes and Mr. Bazzi the rules for Dearborn Schools.  They talked about respect, honesty, responsibility (citizenship) and integrity.  Mr. Bazzi explained what each of the words mean.  Ms. Younes talked about the positive behavior that she wants to see at Lowrey.  Please ask your child about what happened at the assembly.

Welcome to First Grade!

This week has been fun getting to know all of your children. We have been writing, reading and working with our new math program called Eureka Math. We have been making number bonds with the numbers 5 and 10. You will see examples in their homework packet, which will be handed out on Friday.

On Friday at 8:35 we will have a parent meeting. The time was changed so that we could get a translator to help.

After the meeting, any parents that are thinking of going on a field trip this year, should go to the office and fill out a chaperone form. We do not have trips plan at this time, but a chaperone form that has been approved must be submitted before anyone can go on a trip with us. You will need a driver’s license for identification. The form takes 2 to 3 weeks to process. If you submit one at the beginning of the year, it is good for any trips during the school year.

Class Picnic

Our class picnic is on June 12th.  Permissions slips will be sent home after the holiday weekend.  We will be going to Hemlock Park at 8:30 a.m. There we will play on the playground and on the basketball court.  Please send a packed lunch with your child.  You are welcome to meet us at the park.  We would love to see you.  Students who wish to use the splash pad must have a parent present to supervise their child.  We are looking forward to a day of fun!

Field Trip News

We will be going to Greenfield Village on June 1st.  Please have the students arrive on time at 8:00 a.m.  We will be gone for the full day.  Buses should arrive at 8:45 and will be leaving as soon as they get here.  Chaperones will each have a small group of students to supervise.  Please do not allow students to separate from the group.  If one student must use the bathroom, then all will go.  Please bring a small tote bag to carry your students lunches.  Everyone should bring a package lunch. No glass bottles.  Please send the lunches in a throw away bag.  We will check in at lunch time 11:30 and eat together.  We will meet at the front gate at 1:45.  Chaperones and students will check in with me.

Students will be learning about life long ago.  They will see how people lived, what they wore, transportation and what school was like for students.  We will also visit shops and the working Firestone Farm.  We are excited about taking the students to the memorable event!
