  • Bell Work-) What is the key concept that the ruling in the Brown V. Board of Education case was trying to eliminate? 2.) Reflect on the following statement: “To separate [black children] from others of similar age and qualifications solely because of their race generated a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely ever to be undone….” Why do you believe that the Supreme Court felt that is was so important to make this statement about segregation in their ruling? 3.) From a social and historical perspective, what might have happened if the Supreme Court had upheld the ruling of the Topeka District Court, by using the precedent of “separate but equal” established in Plessy v. Ferguson?
