Great Earth Day idea!
Your child received a packet with 5 sheets of photos. There is an order form envelope in the packet along with the set of pictures.
If you are interested in purchasing these pictures, you may send the money to school or order the pictures online. Either way, please send envelope back completed. You may purchase all or some of the photos. Follow the instructions on the order form.
If you are not interested, please send all photos back and they will be shipped back to the company.

Dear Kinder Families,
We will be a part of the Howard Clean-Up Parade on Tuesday, May 9th at 1:30. The kids will be walking in the surrounding neighborhoods followed by a program presented at the school. We are requesting you make a fun “Dearborn clean-up, fix-up, paint up, plant-up” poster for your child to carry. It has to be light and it cannot have anything dangling from it. See below examples:

Reading: We will reading If Dinos came back; How dinosaurs say I’m mad; The dinosaur that lived in my backyard; Dino Facts; Feet First; Tyler’s trip to the library; When water came to visit.

Week 2: Amazing Creatures: Sea Animals
Reading: We will be read poems: I don’t suppose; Sea Animals. We will read stories: Insect Hide (review); Fish Faces; The Fisherman and his wife; When Water comes to visit.
Strategy: Recalling information or events in the story and transferring it to writing.

Writing: We will be writing an informational description using adjectives on a specific animal that lives in the water. We will make a thinking map that has 4 descriptors of their sea animal. The sentence stem will be: ___is ___. __is___.
Math: We will review function machine. We will review input, output and what is the rule. On the class links located to the left of the screen, there is a game to help practice using a function machine.
Social Studies/Science: We are learning about helping the Earth. We will explore what pollution is and the types: air, water & ground pollution. We will make lists, watch videos on how to prevent pollution and create group posters to discuss how to make the Earth safe and clean.
Reminders:
When you donate the bottles and cans to Howard School, you are also helping us beautify our building. We will be using the money to purchase flowers and flower bulbs for outside our entryway and flowerbeds.
Please remember to only bring in plastic bottles or aluminum cans and bottles that can be returned for 10 cents. No Glass! Please also remember to rinse out the containers so they are not sticky. We will continue our collection for 3 weeks.

Week 1: Amazing Creatures: Beetles
Reading: We will read Beetles; The ant and the grasshopper; The elephant and the bees; Insects hide. We will ask and answer questions about each text. We will focus on asking proper questions and answering in complete sentences.

Grammar: Adjectives: to describe something
Writing: We will be using adjectives to describe a specific beetle. We will work on one beetle on Tuesday and the writing sample should come home as usual. On Wednesday, your child is expected to choose a different beetle and write a description in the same format of the writing on Tuesday. The sentence stem are: ___ is___. ___has___. ___has____.
Math: We ware learning about missing addend. We will work through number bonds, writing number sentences out and playing a game called quack attack.
Science & Social Studies: We are learning about Earth Day! We will discuss ways to help the Earth. We will talk about reducing, reusing and recycling.
