Week of April 29th

Reading

We will be identifying text types: storybooks, fiction/nonfiction, poetry.We will practice retelling the story in sequence. We will ask and answer questions. We will discuss the cause and effect. We will visualize a story. We will make self to text connections to read alouds

Spelling words: (-op) pop, top, mop, stop, plop, flop, shop, chop, up, down

Language Arts

We are learning the s-blends (sp-, sk-). Sight words: up, down. We will review nouns, verbs and adjectives. We will review antonyms, syllables, magic/bossy e and endings in a word (suffixes- ing, -ed,-er, -s, -y).

Writing

We will be writing cards for Mother’s Day. We will also write informational pieces about our mom using descriptive writing.  

Math

We will answer how many within a group of 20. We will build a rekenrek. We will practice counting in an array, linear and circular configuration.  

Science.

We will monitor and record what is happening to our plants.

Social Studies

We will discuss ways for saving the earth and how to reuse materials in classroom.

  • Mother’s Day Tea: Friday, May 3rd @7:45-8:45
  • Field Trip to Greenfield Village: Thursday, May 16th
