Week of September 8, 2014

Literacy Theme: Smart Start

Reading: Animals at the Park-An ABC book,

Strategy: listening to the story and responding

Sight word recognition: I

Writing: we have begun with writing the word “I”  and  drawing pictures to associate with what we can do. Remind your child to start on the left side of the paper. We are also practicing writing our names. Please remind your children to start their name with a capital letter and the rest are expected to be lower case letters.

Math: we are practicing number counting 1-10. We are counting backwards as well. We are associating number 1-5 with matching objects. We are also comparing lengths using terms: longer, shorter

Social Studies and Science: we are observing what is going on around us. We will discuss a scientific way of learning through observing. We will also discuss rules, routines and expectations. Please review the PBIS system at home with your child.

We are doing lots of different centers this week to reinforce counting, letter identification and working with others!

Reminders:

  • Please return completed emergency cards A.S.A.P.
  • We do go outside everyday. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
