Please make sure your child has pants, sweaters, and a coat if necessary for recess. Unless it is pouring rain we will be outside to play! The school rule is if the temperature is below 60 degrees the student must have a sweater or coat on.

Important- Please Read!

Hello Families!

We are moving into a VERY busy end of the year!

I would like to discuss the topic of responsibility and independence.  I know that everyone is ready for Summer Break, but we still have 10 full weeks of school left.  Our students have really been struggling following directions lately (responsibility) and completing things without my constant supervision (independence).  To create a strong home and school connection, please make sure that your child is following a routine each morning and night.  This means, they are getting themselves ready for school, they are coming home and completing their homework independently, and they have a set bedtime and get ready for bed on their own.  By doing these things, you are helping them to understand that they can complete tasks all on their own, along with giving them a sense of responsibility and ownership.  This will directly reflect what they can achieve in the classroom.

Please remember, when I give students homework, it is for them to complete independently.  I still have many parents completing (meaning writing out their child’s homework) for them.  This doesn’t allow me to know if your child is struggling or where they need more support.  This also does not benefit your child.

In May, we will be having two field trips.  The first will be on May 16th.  We will be going to the Dearborn Historical Museum: Pioneer Program with 2nd graders from River Oaks.  The cost of this field trip is $5.  We will be sharing a bus with River Oaks.  This field trip is only a ½ day, so we will be back in time for lunch.  I will be sending home permission slips today.  Please return them by Wednesday, April 12th.   You will receive information about our other May field trip next week.

Going Home Today:

  1. May 16th Field Trip Form- Due Wednesday, April 12th with $5.
  2. Are You Returning Next Year Form- Please write your child’s first and last name on whichever line applies. Due- Monday, April 10th.

Report cards will be going home tomorrow.  Please only return the envelope that they were sent home in, also sign the line with Q3.

Have a great night!
