Hello Families!

Happy Tuesday!

In your child’s Daily Yellow Folder today was the following:

  • Spelling practice sheets- I found these and thought that they would be a fun way to get the kids practicing their spelling words, moving their bodies, and using their imagination.  This does not have to be returned.  I just wanted to give some options for practicing.
  • Picture Forms.  Please have your child bring this back on Picture Day (November 2nd).

IXL

I have created each student their own personal IXL skill plan.  This is based on their NWEA scores in Reading and Math.  I introduced IXL to students today.  We logged in and I showed them how to get to their skill plan.  This is something that I want them to be able to do independently- whether it is at school or home.  Students will be able to work at their own pace.  They will have opportunities to work on IXL at school during our Montessori Work Time.  I also have encouraged them to work on their skill plans at home.

IXL Challenge

To help get the kids motivated to do IXL, I have created a challenge.  Since IXL will help build their Math and Reading skills that they need support in based on NWEA, this is something I think is very meaningful.

The Challenge:

  • Everytime they get 10 Smart Scores- they get to pick out of the treasure box! I have shown the kids how to get a Smart Score.  I also told them that they need to go in order that the skills are listed.  This is because the skills build off of each other.
  • If students complete both their Reading and Math skill plans by January (TBD date), they will have a pizza party! This will be for anyone who has completed their skill plans.

Please promote the IXL Challenge at home!

I will not be in on Thursday (October 27th).  Mrs. Salmassi will be taking care of our kids that day.  Thank you so much Mrs. Slamasssi!  I appreciate you!  We appreciate you!

Fall Festival- Students will be passing out treats to one another.  Please send in something individually packaged (candy, chips, etc). We have 22 students total.  Please send this with them on Friday.
