Hello Families!

Today is going to be cold!  Please remember to send your child to school with the appropriate winter clothing for recess.

PIZZA PARTY  this Friday, November 18th!!!  YAY!  Our students earned their first Pizza Party of the year!  We will have pizza, capri-sun juice boxes, and cookies for dessert

On Monday afternoon, Mrs. Almousawi came into our classroom and did a science experiment with our class!!!  It was about how important hand washing is.. The kids had so much fun and are so excited to see the  germs grow over the next couple of days!

Tonight is the last night of parent/ teacher conferences. Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time and wait in the hallway; this is to ensure everyone gets the allotted time for their conference.

Tomorrow will be Part 1 of our Module 2 Math Test.  We completed a study guide/ review in class today.  I demonstrated and showed students what was expected from them on their assessment (writing sentences with answers, using tape diagrams to solve story problems, etc.). Students will be marked down if they do not show their work or write a sentence for an answer when appropriate.  Going home tonight is Part 1 of the Module 2 review that we completed in class along with a review page for students to practice at home this evening.  On Thursday, Part 2 and another practice page will go home for Part 2 of the test on Friday.  

The last night of parent/ teacher conferences is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 16th.  Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time and wait in the hallway; this is to ensure everyone gets the allotted time for their conference.

Hello families!

For Math Homework tonight, students have work that they need to correct and work that they need to finish from today.

We have been working on two-step story problems for a couple of days now. Students need to add or subtract to solve story problem and also create a tape diagram that goes along with both parts.

We have been highlighting the question, we underline what we know, and circle what we need to find out.

This is something that students know. This is how they were taught.

We will complete our study guide for part 1 of the Math Test tomorrow.

What a chilly weekend!  I hope everyone got to relax and stayed warm!

Important Information for this week:

• We will have our Module 2 Math Test this week.  I am going to divide it into two parts.  We will have Part 1 on Wednesday 11/16 and Part 2 on Friday 11/18  
• We will  have our Spelling Test on Friday 11/18
• Attendance is very important. If your child is going to be absent (because life happens!), please let me know so that I can plan accordingly.
• Please send your children to school with the appropriate outdoor clothing- winter coat, hats, gloves, etc.  It is cold out now, so please make sure that your child has the right outdoor clothing for recess.
• The last night of parent/ teacher conferences is on Wednesday, November 16th.  Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time and wait in the hallway; this is to ensure everyone gets the allotted time for their conference.

Today is PICTURE DAY! We will be taking our pictures at 9:45 am.

The following is a message from Ms. Hmayed:

This year the Dearborn Schools Art Department is hosting their 31st annual Empty Bowls charity event at Park Place! Our Second graders and others have been working hard to make their very own handmade bowls to contribute to this event. Any families who are interested in donating a suggested 5$ or more to this charity event can send it to school with their child. Ms. Hmayed will be collecting money until the day of the event, Monday November 14th. If a donation is made, students will get to take home their own handmade bowl, as a reminder of the hunger issues people face in our world. 100% of the money is donated to help feed people in the community. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this event!
