Weekly News- please read!

Hello Families!

It is going to be a busy week and our first FULL week of school!

Ichat forms were sent home last week and were due today! Your child cannot attend field trips if this is not turned in. Please turn them in tomorrow at the latest. Don’t forget to include a clear copy of your driver’s license. You can even email me a picture of your license.

Today, field trip permission slips were sent home for the field trip that we will be going on with kinder and 1st grade. There are 2 sheets that need to be filled out and returned- a district field trip form and the permission slip for the upcoming field trip. Both of these permission slips and $12 are due September 20th. Please read the permission slip carefully.

We will be starting our math curriculum tomorrow. Each night students will have math homework. There is a parent help sheet that will be sent home with each night’s homework also.

Next week we will be starting our ELA Benchmark curriculum. This Friday students will bring home a sheet with our focus for the week and spelling words to study. Spelling tests will be every Friday. Students will have their spelling words which follow the spelling pattern for the week then they will have ten sight words to also study. Students should study at home all week as needed. I also recommend students take a practice test at home Thursday so they are ready for Friday. Students will also be given a fluency passage with the week’s spelling pattern that will go home Mondays and should be returned on Fridays. Each night they are to read the passage a few times, get a parent signature that they read, and then complete the assigned questions on the back.

Thanks to those of you that signed up for the PTA. If you haven’t yet, please consider doing so. Forms were sent home last week. Our goal is to have our whole class signed up!

The PTA is starting Popcorn Fridays once a month. Flyers went home today.

Book Fair is this week! Students will come home with a wish list tomorrow and they can bring in money on Wednesday to purchase books.

I hope that everyone has a great week!
