Welcome 2020-2021 School Year

Hello Families,
I hope everyone is healthy and excited for the start of our school year. This summer was definitely different than past summers, but I hope you had special moments which created great memories. As we start this new school year I want to say thank you for working with me during these challenging times as we continue educating the kids together! As we navigate together into this new school year, I understand that it comes with questions and concerns on how everything will look due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Rest assured, I will do my best to be in constant contact with all of you. If at any time you have concerns, you are always welcome to reach out to me through email, phone calls or texts.  (Email roskelm@dearbornschools.org / Cell Phone: 734 536 9994)

The first week of classes, for all Dearborn Public School students, will be half days, Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3. Friday, Sept. 4, and Monday, Sep. 7 are days off for Labor Day. Our half school days this week will run from 8:15 AM- 11:10 AM. Starting after labor day we will have full virtual days running from 8:15 AM- 3: 10 PM. The first four half days will allow staff additional time to learn the new online teaching tools, Schoology and Zoom,  that all teachers and students will be using during online instruction. More information for student and parent use will be communicated to you in the coming week. Starting after labor day we will have daily live meetings with educational activities. The schedule will be shared later this week.

What will this first week look like?
This first week will run as an orientation week. You will find an instructional video or lesson on the classroom blog for each day of the week. This will start on Monday to be used by families to engage in learning together. Chromebooks are available for families to checkout. If you would like to rent a Chromebook please let me know and I will get one to you as soon as possible! During this first week I will be contacting families to give more details about the plans for this school year, along with scheduling the in-face Learning labs, and answering any questions you may have. The Learning Labs will begin the week of September 21, and will be offered Monday- Friday. Students will attend either an AM or PM session, each session will be roughly 2.5 hrs long, and transportation will be provided. Also, new contingency plans will be created, which will pair with your child’s IEP and provide the state with information regarding our plan for virtual and in person learning.

I know this is a lot of information all at once, but rest assured we will work together through this new process! All you and your child need to do this week is keep an eye out for my phone call, and check the blog for a fun daily activity. As we continue through this week you will gain more information about how our virtual learning and in person schooling will work!

Thank you all for your time and patience. I am so excited to have you in my class and I can’t wait to work with you all!
Very best,

Mrs. Melissa Roskelly

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!

Hello Howe Families. I hope everyone is healthy, happy, and had some time to enjoy the summer!  As we begin this new school year, I know everyone has a lot of questions and concerns on how everything will look with changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  As information is provided, I will be sure to share it with you all!

The beginning of our school year, we will be completely virtual. Daily school hours will be 8:15-3:10, with half days ending at 11:10.  The first week of school, August 31st-September 3rd are all half day.  There is no school September 4th and September 7th for the Labor Day weekend.

The district will be offering in person “Learning labs” which will begin the week of September 21st.  I will be reaching out to all my families next week for more information and scheduling time sessions.  “Learning labs” will run daily with a morning session and an afternoon session.  Each student will be allowed to attend either the am or pm session daily. Each session will be 2.5 hours and busing will be provided.  I am very excited about the beginning of our school year, along with the future opportunity of“Learning labs,” I cannot wait to work face-to-face with the students in small individualized groups! 🙂

If you have any questions and/or concerns please feel free to e-mail (roskelm@dearbornschools.org) Call, or Text me! I look forward to talking with each and every one of you very soon 🙂

Hello friends, Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is enjoying this rainy weather today. Jameson was so excited to see and feel the rain outside this morning! He loves rainy days because of the puddles he can splash in during and after 🙂 I love them because it takes Zero effort and he gets all his energy out and enjoys the water! If your into playing in the rain, like Jameson is, try and get outside today. I missed my friends this morning , but below is videos of the lessons for today.
