Newsletter Week 33 (Recap and NEW Info)!
**Scholastic Book Club: This month is the last time to order from our online book club! Books make great gifts and also come in handy during the summer months! By ordering books or having your child read books throughout the summer, will help prevent your child from having summer learning loss! Get your child a head of their class by reading this summer! All the information is provided below:) Happy Reading!
Warmer weather is soon approaching! Please dress your child appropriately for these hot days, because we do go outside and it gets very warm in the classroom as well. Since we do go outside twice a day, we ask that you do not send your child to school with open toed shoes. The children play on wood chips, so we do not want your child getting splinters, cuts or a wood chip stuck in their skin. Having closed toed shoes will help prevent an accident and keep your child safe on the playground:) Make sure to send your child to school with ICE cold water everyday to give your child some relief from the hot temperatures.
What we did during our week:
Language Arts: We have officially learned ALL the letters and sounds of the alphabet! Now, we will use our sounds to help us with reading and writing new words:) Next week spelling test List #19: king, sing, wing, ring, ding, sting, thing, bring, swing Bonus words to study at home: spring, cling. Make sure to practice the bonus word (10th word) at home for homework. Our 19th spelling test will be on Friday, May 10th.
Writing: In May, we will focus on informational and narrative writing.
Math: This week we completed the last lessons in Module 5: lessons 16-23. Next week we will complete Module 6: Lessons 1-5. . Please make sure you are completing the homework lessons with your child each night. This is our last math module!
Science: For May, we will focus on the relationships between animals and their habitats.
Social Studies: For May, we will focus on democracy; identifying our country’s flag.

- I am excited to report that out of 24 students who took the test, 19 students received a 100% Woo hoo! I am so proud of each student who worked so hard all week to ensure they were successful on their test! If your child received a 100%, they will write with a “smart” pen all day Monday and also participate in “NO shoes afternoon” on Monday as well:) On Monday, once your child comes in from recess, they will be able to take their shoes off and relax for the last part of the day. Please make sure your child knows how to independently take off and put on their shoes. I appreciate your support in this matter! Also, make sure to wash your child’s socks as soon as they come home on Monday, they may be a little darker than normal;)
