Mrs. Farhat's Science Enrichment

Second graders continue to learn about properties of Matter.  In this activity, students tested different materials to determine which one had the property of insulation.  

Our amazing 3rd grade buddies helped our kindergarten friends learn about force and motion.  Students created a Venn diagram to sort pictures.

Today we used shaving cream to practice our letters, numbers and shapes.  Students in Ms. Shaheen’s young 5s class explored their sense of touch as they drew circles, triangles and squares!

Today, Mrs. Maraachli’s class created Cup Guitars to show how vibration creates sound.  Students read a book about a girl and her guitar.  We used our previous learning to make our own instrument!

Ever wonder how certain sounds end up in cartoons? Our first graders learned how vibrations cause sound…take a listen!

5th grade classes had the task of testing solutions to changes a tarnished penny to a sparkling one.

Students are learning about forces like pushes and pulls.

5TH GRADE MYSTERY

2nd graders are learning about properties of matter.  They were posed with the question: how would you make a hat to protect yourself from the sun if you were deserted on an island?

Here’s what they came up with:

I’m baaacckkk! I am so excited to be back teaching Enrichment for the 2017-2018 school year.  While I loved having my own set of students, teaching Enrichment allows me to interact with every single student at McDonald School.

I have so many  things planned for this year. I cannot wait to see the excitement in students’ eyes as they discover new science concepts and take their math learning to a new level!

I look forward to meeting all of you at Open House Thursday, September 14 from 6:00-7:30!
