Mr. Duda’s Physical Education Class Syllabus (2019–2020)
My mission is to facilitate students in improving their quality of life through regular physical activity. This will be accomplished by using a student-centered approach while teaching the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective aspects of physical fitness and demonstrating personal responsibility in all areas of the curriculum.
I. Fundamental Behaviors
- Be on time to class (you will have 5 minutes to change in the locker room & will wait against the wall in the locker room until we go to the gym).
- Follow directions.
- Give One Hundred Percent effort at all times.
- Display good sportsmanship & citizenship at all times.
II. Proper Attire
Students will be required to change their clothes every day for PE Class:
- Dress in proper gym shoes every day (no jeans, sandals, boots, heels, etc).
- No tank top shirts or clothes that might be offensive (drugs, alcohol, etc.).
- Don’t bring back packs, coats, hats or wear hoods to class.
- The clothes you wear in class MUST be different than what you wore to school to get full credit.
III. Medical Excuses
Students must:
- Have a note from a licensed physician if they cannot participate in class.
Units That Will Be Covered
Each Unit in my Physical Education Class will be a minimum of One Week. The following Sports and/or Activities will be covered in my class (this is subject to change): Fitness Stations, Fitness Testing, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Kickball, Baseball & Health.
Grading Policy
75% Participation
- Each Day is Worth 5 points – 25 Points a week
- Gym Clothes + Participating + Following Directions = 5 Points
- **If you dress, but DON’T PARTICIPATE, you WILL NOT get all your daily points**
- You will not be able to participate in boots, sandals, heels, etc.
- If needed, you may borrow GYM SHOES from Mrs. Barker for the day.
15% Fitness / Swimming / Health
- Fitness Testing, 12-Minute Swim Test & Health Unit
10% Skills
- Swim Skills & Unit Skills
