Good morning families and students!

I hope you had a restful and safe break. We will continue our remote learning with some modification. Please understand that this is new to both of us and it is an ongoing learning process. It may not be perfect, but I shall do my best.

Please log into Google classroom and READ carefully the instruction part. Everything is attached or at the bottom. If I forgot something, please shoot me an email and tell me what EXACTLY is missing.

One more time, when a child is having a technical issue with a chromebook, feel free to contact the Parent Technology Support Line  313-827-8400 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Please make sure you have the child’s ID number and a computer open to the page you are having issues with.

To access Google classroom assignments : https://classroom.google.com/w/MTcyMzMyNjM3NjJa/t/all Code: 5iaovrv.

The Elementary Report Cards for Marking Period 3 are currently being processed and are available to parents in ParentConnect.  Following is some information on how parents can access report cards data in MIStar ParentConnect. Please note that if you have more than one child, you should be able to see data for all your children and you do not need separate logins for the different schools (if your children attend more than one school).

To log into ParentConnect you will need your PIN and password. If you have your PIN and password, you can go to the Dearborn Schools’ website (dearbornschools.org) and then click the ParentConnect link.

If you don’t know your login info, click (Need Your Login Information) link and it will prompt you to enter your email address (use the email you provided to the school and is in our system), and then click Submit. This process will email you your PIN and Password.

Once you are logged in, click on “report card marks” module.

Have a great day!

Thursday, April 2

Good morning students,

Please note that a few students turned in full assignments. Please work on finishing your work before 12:00 noon tomorrow. Again many of the questions I receive are sent late in the evening. I am responding during school hours and I shall do my best to support you in any way I can.

This is a tutorial on how to turn in Google classroom assignment because some students are still typing the whole document.

Wish you well and keep working hard!

Wednesday, April 1

Good morning parents and students,

Many students are still sending me a request to access their homework online. The students DO NOT need a request. They simply open the Google document, then file, then they make a copy and start typing. The student either click on turn in or share with me after they are done with the work.

Also when a child is having a technical issue that is not related to academic, feel free to contact the Parent Technology Support Line  313-827-8400 – Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Please make sure you have the child’s ID number and a computer open to the page you are having issues with.

I-READY and ZEARN minutes are still low and students are only guessing. A score of 85% and above indicates a good comprehension. So let us focus on deep reading. Keep up the good work children!

Stay well and stay safe!

Monday, March 30

Good morning students!

I hope you had a restful and safe weekend. Please log onto google classroom: https://classroom.google.com/c/MTcyMzMyNjM3NjJa to see the new assignment for the week of March 30 through April 3rd. our code is 5iaovrv.

Please read the directions carefully and try not to exchange social comments on Google classroom. Otherwise, I will disable it.

Some students are waiting to the last minute to start working on assignments. Others send me emails with questions late at night or at 2:00 a.m.!! I am online during school hours only., and so happy to support you to my best ability. Working on line to challenging for both of us. Things will not be perfect, but it will be better. So please do your work early in the day, and the rest is yours.

I am constantly monitoring I-READY reports. You must practice daily. Read deeply and reread the text to obtain 85 % accuracy or higher on quizzes. As usual, I will call sometime this week to check on you.

Stay well!

Announcements:

The free breakfast/lunch distribution continues today, Monday, starting at 10:00 am to noon at Fordson, Dearborn and Edsel Ford high schools; McCollough/Unis; Salina Intermediate; Smith Middle School; and Woodworth Middle School. The program will only be handing out food three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Each food bag will still contain both breakfast, lunch and milk for a child under 18, but now the bag will have food for each day until the next distribution.

The Dearborn Schools student does not have to attend that school to be eligible for a meal. A designated person can pick up meals for multiple children.  The student does not need to be present.

Thank you and have a safe day!

Assignment for March 23-27

Dear Parents and Students,

I shared with each student on Google classroom the assignments for the upcoming week. Many students turned in incomplete work, or very late work. Such thing is beyond my control. However, I will keep calling to give you some feedback about your child.

Reading: Please read “Progressive Tense” and “When Stars Explode.” Write your answers in the attached document I created for you. Make sure you work on the vocabulary.
Science and social studies: Read the articles well and share answers in attached document
Math: Solve pages 7,8, and 9 ONLY of I-READY documents; plus the word problems. If you have done those pages, cut and paste the answers for the required ones.
Writing: Open a document and write a reflection journal about your first week learning from home. Be honest, explain and reflect.
So you are sharing with me 4 documents; math , science & social studies, reading, and a reflection journal. Once a document is complete, please share. Do not send part of the document.
Have a great week and keep up the good work children!
