These results help us plan for our instruction and will also allow for an additional chromebook pick-up day in the future. These results are confidential to the school and will be shared with the necessary classroom and resource teachers and administrators only. Please complete this survey as early as possible. Thank you.

Reading: We will have 2 Readwork articles a week assigned on Google Classroom. The expectation is to read and answer the questions by the end of the week. The articles will be posted on Monday. Instead of having another Readworks article, we would like students to spend each day reading on their iReady account. This program is geared towards your student’s reading level and offer instruction based on their reading needs.

Reading

  1. Sensing the World Around Us
  2. Tag– I’m It!

Writing: Covid-19 Journal on Google Classroom

We have decided to use this time for our students to create a journal about this unusual time in their lives for their writing. This is a constructive way for them to be more self aware, creative, use their imagination, and improve their writing skills. We have a Google Slides format for them to start the journal and they can add in their own blank slides. There are questions they can answer by using words, pics, videos, or anything appropriate for the journal. It will be their own living history for this time in their lives.

Here is a small sample to see what you can do –

Journal Example #1

Journal Example #2

Science on Tuesday and Thursday:

A mystery science lesson will be posted on Tuesday and then a second lesson on Thursday. This will put on Google Classroom with the link to open the lesson and the directions for what each student has to do for that activity.

Social Studies on Wednesday:

There will be a lesson posted each Wednesday for Social Studies on Google Classroom. The links and the directions will be on the assignment.

Art/Music/Technology: Art, Music, Technology assignments will be given through google classroom.

Final Announcements before Spring Break!

Final Announcements for the Week:

Thank you parents and students for all your hard work this week. Please read the following below for what 4th grade is going to look like after Spring Break.

Looking forward to after Spring Break, students will need a notebook or pieces of paper to do their math on. I will be sending a pdf of the math book for students to follow along with. If you have a printer, then you can print the pdf and work on the pages that I assigned. If you do not have a printer, I will be making a video to show how you can do the math problems on a sheet of paper. Also, I will be using Zearn to track student’s progress, so please try to log into Zearn using your device to make sure it works. Lastly, if you are denied access from watching the math videos and/or taking the Math Exit Ticket, then please email me at vuichaa@dearbornschools.org

Also, please take this week’s Math Exit Ticket, and the Weekly Survey. If you want to take the weekend to finish the assignments, we would greatly appreciate it.

Math Exit Ticket (It’s also on Google Classroom): https://forms.gle/yuQMbBzp3tESeTZh6

After Spring Break Science and Social Studies will be set up through Google Classroom. We will let you know the new set up right after our break. This is a work in progress but we hope it will alleviate the problems we have been experiencing.

For Reading and Writing, this is definitely our biggest area of concern and we will be meeting over the next week to decide what it will look like when we return after our break. Please log on to iReady for your reading and word work. You have an account and we want you to use it.

Again, thank you parents for your support during this time. We know it is hard and we are here to support you. Please email us if you have any questions or concerns.

We hope you and your family have a great Spring Break!
