Happy Monday Everyone! I hope everyone read the Sunday “Week at a Glance.” post to help organize the week!
Here is a look at today:
Spelling
-There is still no list again this week! We are going to be focusing on capitalization! It is great to review in general, but as I get work back, it is especially important to go over at this time with everything being on the computer!
Assignment:
– Today, I would like you to watch the Brainpop video on capitalization.
https://www.brainpop.com/english/grammar/capitalization/
Remember to login with my name! Username: hullroom207 Password: lindbergh2020
– Next, read the checklist on when to capitalize words (on Google Classroom) and answer the two quick questions at the bottom so I can see you have read the list! Due Wednesday!
Writing
-This week we are still doing our opinion writing on the topic: should we stay home during this time.
*Many students did not finish their reasons and details yet about this topic** That is due today!
Assignment:
– You might have noticed that I added an introduction box and conclusion box to your writing. That will be the new thing for you to work on this week.
– If you want to, you can start by watching the new video of Mrs. J and do the introduction and conclusion. However, this is not due until Wednesday.
Math
-We are only doing two math lessons this week and on Friday I decided to do something a little bit different, students will answer questions to show their understanding so far on fractions and try one of the fun home activities I post! It is very important not to get bored or unmotivated with our math routine for the next month. Having a chance to turn math into a game or make connections at home with family will hopefully keep the engagement going!
Assignment:
– Today, the assignment is Module 5 Lesson 9: Use the area model and division to show the equivalence of two fractions. It is the same thing we were working on with multiplication, just working backwards instead with division!
– Optional: Watch the Eureka math video while trying the homework and check the homework with the answer key.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wIkK_5npEk
– Watch the virtual lesson on GreatMinds.
https://gm.greatminds.org/en-us/knowledge-for-grade-4-em-m5l9
– Problem Set. Must do: 1 b,c,d, 2a, 4a,b. Due Tuesday
Try turning math into Google Classroom instead of email- that way you do not having any “missing assignments” at the end of the week! I put a video explaining how to on Google Classroom. You are welcome to keep sending them to me through email or remind, but please just hit the turn in button in Google Classroom.
Reading
-There is a new Readworks article assigned today called Dead Zone. It is due by Friday. Students can get one redo on it!
Readworks does show under “classwork” for some reason on Google Classroom. You can seem it if you are on the “stream”
**Since we cannot do Google Meets right now, Wonder will be recorded to watch tomorrow and there will be no meet time at 12:30**
Reading Groups
-There will be a new assignment for reading groups this week due by Friday.
Blue Group: Read Holes Ch 31-35 (pages 141-155) and do the chapter questions posted on Google Classroom.

My Leader in Me challenge this week is to make a calendar or some sort of plan to get yourself ready for this week! Share with me how you stay organized during this time. It can be a challenge!
I am sharing a calendar with you- it is an outline for all of 4th grade on what we do on a daily basis. This can help you get a sense of how to prioritize what to do. Feel free to use as needed!
