Week of 9/16/19: Summarize Plot, Continue Seedfolks, Plot Quiz Thursday

Welcome back after what I hope was a great weekend. This week in class, we’ll be reviewing our Plot notes. Students will summarize them in class on Monday, check their homework from the weekend, and turn both in. These will be 2 formative grades that will hit the grade book this week.

In addition to reviewing our notes, students will also have the chance to practice applying the information from their notes by sequencing the events from a few Pixar shorts in the proper places on a plot diagram. Students will work with a partner to discuss their placements and then submit the activities for credit on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students can practice on ixl.com to review for the quiz as well.

In addition to continuing with our novel, Seedfolks, students will be continuing to NWEA test, beginning midweek. They will be either finishing the Language test or beginning the Reading test. The reading test is a bit more complex and features larger chunks of text, so it is recommended that students eat a healthy breakfast and lunch to minimize rumbly stomachs, and also get plenty of sleep on nights before testing.
