Week of 9/3/19: NWEA Testing and Reason to Read Poster

This week in class, students will be beginning their NWEA Language test. This test assesses students’ ability to help fix others’ writing, to identify spelling, punctuation, and grammar issues, and how to correct those issues.

Students will have this week in class to finish the test. If they do not finish, they will be pulled from their elective class to finish the test.

When students finish, they will be working on completing a poster, to be hung in our classroom or around Stout Middle School. On the poster, students should include one of the reasons to read that we came up with the first week of school.

They will also need to include these parts for full credit:

Students helped create these expectations by discussing what a poster that would inspire them would look like.
This poster has the right idea, and a great image, but does NOT include a reason to read, and would not receive full credit.
This poster would receive almost full credit. It’s colorful, creative, and inspires reading, but it should say something like “Read to Explore.”

This poster assignment will be due Monday, September 9th at the beginning of the hour. Students will have time in class on Thursday and Friday this week to work on posters, but may need some time at home to complete their work. Please plan ahead.

Also, please bring supplies to class Monday, September 9th so that we can set up binders that day!
