Hello Families!

I hope you all had a marvelous Monday! We certainly did as Group A came to Oakman School for their first full day in person!! It was so much fun!

Take a look at some of the amaing things Group A did today! In addition, to these activities, we practiced making a connection to the Benchmark Story about Chicken Little! Group B did a terrific job with asynchronous work and submissions on Schoology. 🙂

We practiced counting to 100 with our 100 charts as we touched each number!
We wrote our opinion about our Benchmark story, Horrible Bear.
We got some fresh air during recess as we used sidewalk chalk!
We found pictures of living and non-living things as wel cut and paste to categorize them!
We mixed and fixed the sight word one.
We pracitced subtraction from a group of 9 with our cubes!
Tomorrow, March 2nd, is Read Across America Day as we all celebrate the wonders of Reading the birthday of the incredibly talented, Dr. Seuss!

Group A Info for Tomorrow!! Yay!!! We are coming to School!

Hello families!!

Tomorrow, Monday March 1st marks the official opening of school for hybrid learning. We look forward to seeing our GROUP A students in  Young fives, kindergarten, first grade and second grade in the morning. 

On Monday all group A students will be coming into the building from 9:30 a.m. to 2:20pm.Please remember to eat breakfast at home and bring a water bottle with you. Also, remember to practice social distancing when you see your friends.

Thankful Thursday!

Hello Families!

I am so thankful for the 100 fun days of learning that we have had together!! What are you thankful for? Send me a reply on this blog. 🙂

Take a look at some of the super awesome activities we did today! In addition to the these activities, we practiced counting syllables as well as stretching for sounds as we wrote about details in a story. We also practiced word by word match as we read a Benchmark emergent reader. And….we practiced making a personal connection to a story!

We went on a hunt to find things that rhyme at home! Potato rhymes with tomato!
We decomposed 9 pears in the pear tree into 2 groups; one group that was left on the tree and the another group that was on the ground after we shook the pear tree!
We practiced writing all of our lowercase letters!
We practiced writing all of our uppercase letters!
We practiced spelling the sight word jump as we mixed and fixed the letters to practice identifying this sight word!

I am so excited to see Group A for the 100th Day of Young 5 celebration today! PLEASE remember to bring your 100th Day homework (100 item poster). And…please remember to dress up as a 100 year old!

Wonderful Wednesdays and Reminders for 100th Day

Hello Families!

I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Wonderful Wednesday! Happy 100th Day of School!!

Group A will come to school tomorrow with their 100th Day poster! (!00 things glued to the poster; no food, candy, or coins please). They will also come dressed and looking like the aged to become 100 year old Young 5s. Group B will do the same on Friday! I sent some examples of dress up ideas and poster ideas to you this morning!

Take a look at some of the awesome things we did today! In addition to this awesome work, we also practiced identifying the main topic of the Benchmark poem about making right choices!

We engineered a school building using 100 items!

We practiced writing the sounds for the words se saw in the pictures after using Elkonin boxes!

We listened to a math word problem and decomposed a group of 9 pennies for Emma to be able to buy a balloon for 5 cents and gum for 4 cents.
We decorated Valentine Bags! Thank you to all of you for sending in Valentines for your friends!!!! Our bags are stuffed full of love!
We made heart friends!
We practiced following directions.
We practiced working at our tables!
We practiced how to take care of our bucket supplies.
We had so much fun at Valentines Learning Lab!
Happy 100th Day of Young 5s!
Congratulations to our friend!!! She earned her yellow belt in karate!!! Way to go!!!!

Terrific Tuesday

Hello Families!

Take a look at some of the terrific things we did today!!!

Yesterday friends came in for our Valentine Party Learning Lab!!!
We made our Valentine bags and played Valentine bingo!
We went on a hunt at home for things that begin with the letter Gg’s sound.
We decomposed the number 10!
We drew to answer a comprehension question about details in the Benchmark story. (Who won the race at the end of the story? Answer: The frogs won the race!)
We drew to answer who are two characters from a different Benchmark story. (The girl and the bear are characters in the story!)
We learned more about makes something living! (We sculpted things that are living! This friend sculpted flowers and butterflies!)

PLEASE remember, today Group B will be coming to school to celebrate Valentines during learning lab!

PLEASE remember to fill out the health screening form that is on Schoology as well as here.

Marvelous Monday!

Hello Families!

We started our week with a marvelous Monday!

Take a look at some of the great things we did!

In addition to these activities, we discussed the main topic of our Benchmark poem and told about what we are good at doing! We also listened to our Benchmark story and reviewed what it means to make a connection to the text!

We mixed and fixed the sight word; good!
We used our 10 cubes to shake and dump as we decomposed a group of 10.
We decomposed a group of 10 with a word problem about a Valentine’s Day party!
We went on a hunt for items that begin with the sound of letter T! This friend found a towel and a tomato!
We reviewed and practiced writing the letter Gg. We self evaluated as we circled our best uppercase letter G and best lowercase letter g.

Please remember, Group A will be coming to Oakman School at their appointed learning lab time today. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day together with a party! Group B will be doing their Valentine’s Day party during learning labs tomorrow. PLEASE feel free to bring 16 Valentines to put in your friends Valentines bags! Do not send in candy….as much as I love to eat candy:)

I am looking forward to celebrating a belated Valentine’s Day with my adorable students!

Hello Families!

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend! I know I did! It is always such a blessing to relax and spend time with loved ones!

PLEASE remember Monday Group A will be celebrating Valentine’s Day during Learning Labs. Group B will be having their Valentine party on Tuesday. Your child can bring Valentines for each of their classmates. We have 16 students in our class!

Then…. Group A will be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Thursday and Group B will be celebrating the 100th Day of School on Friday during learning labs. PLEASE send your child to school looking like they are 100 year old people. 🙂 This will be so much fun! (ex. baby powder in the hair, fake glasses, eye liner to draw on wrinkles and mustaches….)
