Hello Families!

First, let me say how very, very thankful I am for my 17 amazing students and their very supportive and caring families! Thank you so much for trusting me to teach and guide your children at Oakman School! I am so blessed to be their teacher! I love each one of them very much! Please join us on Tuesday for our thanksgiving feast with friends and family at 1:45. The children each picked a character to represent from the first Thanksgiving as we will recite a Thanksgiving poem to all who come! If you signed up to bring food, please remember to not bring in anything that contains nuts and to bring enough for 17 children and their parents. Also, please bring your food warm and ready to be eaten. 🙂

And…. if someone could please bring in a case of bottle water, I would appreciate that!!!! Please email me or sign the sheet outside of the classroom if you would like to do this. Thanks!!

Thank you, PTA for organizing the awesome Zap Zone event Friday night! Thank you to all who came too!

Way to Oakman Robotics Team!!! Here they are at a competition, in front of judges, presenting their Bio-dome!

We are working on writing letters and forming them with playdough!

We reached into our mystery box and pulled out random items! As we did we named the item and it’s beginning sound!

Hello Families!

Please come and support the Oakman PTA at Zap Zone today from 5-8 PM. This is a super fun place for fun activities and yummy pizza for everyone! The cost is $20 a person and Oakman PTA will earn money to put back into the great things they do for our school and your children!

Hello Families!

Thank you for the generous giving of canned goods and non-perishable food! We passed our goal and collected 152 items! Our school as a whole collected over 1700 items! That is so AWESOME!!! Way to go, Oakman family!!!!

Hello families!

Today we had a marvelous Monday! We learned the letter Bb and practiced ways to make 10. We also acted out math word problems.

And…. Today is Veteran’s Day! We learned about what a veteran is and brainstormed words that describes a veteran.

And… we played in the leaves and took a walk as we sang and counted to 100.

Please remember we are collecting canned goods only for two more days! Please help us collect food to feed hungry families! Our goal is to collect 100 canned goods!

Hello Young 5 Families!

I am so thankful for you and your children! You all bring much joy to me as their teacher. I would like to celebrate Thanksgiving with my students by sharing a special “Young 5s Feast with Family and Friends”. If you would like to help us with this feast, we are suggesting that families prepare and bring food for the entire class with some extra for family members. Our feast will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 1:45.

There will be a sign up sheet posted outside of our classroom for you to choose what you would like to bring or you can email me. mehrhok@dearbornschools.org

I am truly looking forward to sitting with our amazing Young 5s as we all share what we are thankful for and enjoy a “feast” for family and friends! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello Families!

– Tomorrow is a Half Day for all elementary students. Dismissal will be at 11:45am

– There will be a Parent Meeting at 9:30 am: please join us for a informational parent meeting in the cafeteria. We will be sharing information on budgeting, curriculum, student progress and ACCESS.

– Your child can wear an Oakman Shirt (if they don’t have one. I have some in my classroom we can slip on over their shirt!)  Another option is to wear Oakman colors… blue and white! The children can also wear a hat!
