Today at 2:30-3:20 is a math meeting for all Young 5 families! We will meet in my room. Please sign in at the office when you arrive.
Also, I am so excited to spend extra time with all of you and your children at our first Young 5 My Family and Me Play Group! This will be from 4:00-5:00. Please enter from the front main doors. If it is locked….knock on my classroom window. 🙂

Thursday is also a Young 5 Parent Meeting in our classroom at 2:30! Then, at 4:00 to 5:00 we will have our first Young 5 Family and Me Play Group Time in our classroom!!! Parents, please remember I will be providing hot tea for you to enjoy as you all visit with each other during our play group time! This is going to be such a great experience!
Friday is Pajama Day/or Christmas Sweater Day! (And our last day at school for 2019!! School will be closed until January 6th.)
If your child would like to buy a raffle ticket to help support an Oakman Fundraiser, please send in their dollar tomorrow. They will be put in a raffle to win one of many Christmas gifts!

Your family will have so much fun making crafts, decorating delicious cookies and scrumptious cupcakes!!! We will listen to fun holiday music and there is talk of a very special guest coming all the way from the North Pole!!!

Please plan on joining us tomorrow at 2:00 for our Friends and Family Thanksgiving Feast!!!! The children will perform a song at 2:00. After that, they will read what they are thankful for…..from their very own writing. Then, we will eat the yummy food you all are bringing for the feast! Thank you for your generosity and kindness! You all are such a blessing to me!

Hello Families!
We have been mathematicians as we have been working with 2D shapes!
Today we sorted 2D shapes into their categories. We also practiced describing 2D shapes by talking about the characteristics of them such as the number of sides.
The children used geoboards and rubber bands to create 2D shapes.
We have been talking a lot about kindness! PLEASE, if your child does something kind for someone at home, let me know! I would love to recognize that in the classroom!
PLEASE be sure to check out the sign up sheet that is outside of our classroom door for the Thanksgiving classroom celebration next week!
PLEASE mark your calendars and come to the classroom Thanksgiving celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 26th at 2:00! The children will also be performing a song for you!
We are in NEED of baby wipes if you would like to donate any.
Also….next week we only come to school on Monday and Tuesday!

Hello Young 5 Families!
I am so thankful for you and your children! You all bring much joy to me as their teacher. I would like to celebrate Thanksgiving with my students by sharing a special “Young 5s Feast with Family and Friends”. If you would like to help us with this feast, we are suggesting that families prepare and bring food for the entire class. Our feast will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 26th at 2:00-3:00 The children will also be performing a song.
There will be a sign up sheet posted outside of our classroom for you to choose what you would like to bring or you can email me. mehrhok@dearbornschools.org
I am truly looking forward to sitting with you and our amazing Young 5s as we all share what we are thankful for and enjoy a “feast” for family and friends! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello Families!
We learned about the meaning of Veteran’s Day and the brave men and women who served out country in the one of the 5 branches of the military.
We also wrote thank you letters to veterans. In addition, we made a beautiful poppy flower project with a poem that reminds us to be thankful for the sacrifice of so many who have served our country.
To all of you who have served in the military as well as the spouses, children, and other loved ones of these heroes….Happy Veteran’s Day! From the bottom of my heart….thank you for your service!
****PLEASE remember to bring in canned goods and other food items that do not need to be refrigerated. We have 12 items now and our class goal is 100 food items!
***Tomorrow, 4-7PM is the second night of parent teacher conferences. I sent home reminders today for your appointment time.
