Hello Families!

So…..as much as I have been missing everyone and normalcy….this morning it really hit me. I just overwhelmingly began missing EVERYTHING and EVERYONE! I mean I have been missing everyone already…but it just really sank in today! I just want to hug my parents so badly!!! (like many do I am sure)

BUT….with that said…something else hit me! I thought…when I am ever going to this opportunity again! This opportunity to slow down and look around me at all of the little things I have been missing and taking for granted….or maybe even not taking for granted, but just rushing through.

The last few nights, while eating dinner, I sat there and waited for everyone to finish eating before I got up to start cleaning up. I thought….let me just stop and enjoy what I have around me instead of rushing through it.

I don’t know about you…but I need to look at this and find the hidden blessing behind it all! We are all going to be ok! I know and believe that! And…YES!!!! How I wish to see my students in our classroom and hear their giggles and little voices! But….guess what??? You have that gift right now! You can listen to them and their little stories. Ask them questions and hear their responses….Listen to their explanations about their drawings or things they write and make. But most of all….just let them know how much they are loved and make the most out of each moment with them!!

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all you are doing at home with your children! I have seen such amazing things through the videos and pictures you are sharing! It is true…..parents are the first teachers in our lives! I value you, parents! Keep up the great work!

Hello Families!

First, I just want to say I hope all of you are well! These are really strange times, but one thing for sure is we have each other! We have the laughter we enjoy when with our loved ones. We have the love that we share for one another. We have the hope that all things will work out and get better!

With all that said, I miss all of my amazing students!

So….here is the plan. I need all of you to make sure that you are on Whatsapp and that I have your cell numbers to find you on Whatsapp. I will be posting teaching videos, stories, and activities using Whatsapp. Please email me at mehrhok@dearbornschools.org with your child’s name and your cell number you use on Whatsapp. This is how you and your student will be learning remotely from home while we do not have school in session. It is very important that you check your Whatsapp often and share the videos and activities with your child. We are a team! You are not only their parent, but also their teacher. 🙂 I have every confidence that you and I will be able to help your child continue to learn and grow!

When I create the Whatsapp group and send the messages, you will see my cell number. Please never hesitate to call or email me with any concerns or questions. We are going to get through all of this together!!!

I have set up a mini teaching area in my house and will be filming lessons on my phone. I will not post all videos at once. Each morning you will receive a morning message. Everyday I will post a writing mini lesson and two literacy lessons. In the afternoon, I will post one science/social studies lesson and a math lesson. The special area teachers will also be blogging and sending me ideas for the students. We really want them to feel connected to learning! I really want them to feel that they are still connected to each other and to me! They are truly a part of my heart!

So….with all of that said, here is a story for them to watch… (if they are still awake). I will post the first video by 9:30 tomorrow morning. I will also be posting videos of what to do with the items that were sent home and delivered.

Hello Families!

Tomorrow is our test! I will ask your child to count as high as they can count to 100, write their first and last names, write all of the upper and lowercase letters, and write the numbers 1-10.

This is what we work on in class! Please help them practice, but I know I am going to see lots of growth!!! We are excited!

If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. We can test a different day.

Hello Families!

We are teaming up with the 5th grade Ecology Club at Oakman to help the homeless and abandoned animals of Dearborn! We have been learning about the needs of living things and know these little animals need food, water, shelter, and love! Please help us to show love to these furry friends by donating the following items before April 3rd!

*Canned dog food

*Canned cat food

*Gently used blankets and towels

*Newspaper

*Dog toys

*Cat toys

Our goal is to collect 100 items! Anyone who is available can join us at 4:00 on Friday, April 3rd as we deliver the donated items and get a tour of the amazing Dearborn Animal Shelter!!!

We are collecting used blankets and towels for the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Please help us collect 100 items for this worthy cause.

Also, for March is Reading Month, I would like to invite you to come and read to our class! Please see me to schedule a day and time for you to come and read a story to us!

Friday is also our counting and handwriting test. Your child will be asked to count to 100 as well write each of the upper and lowercase letters and numbers 1-10. We have been practicing EVERYDAY at school! 🙂
