Terrific Tuesday; Lessons #1, #2, and #3

Hello Families!

I hope your Tuesday is a terrific one! Here are the morning lessons that I posted on Whatsapp for the children. Thank you for helping them with the assignments and sending me a picture or video of the assignments they complete. Mr. Abu-Rus and I are keeping track of every student’s work. Please feel free to watch the lessons and complete the assignments today during times that work for you and your child! Always remember, to reach out to me through email, text, or a phone call if you have any questions or concerns. 🙂

Assignment #1

The goal of this lesson is for the children to identify the name, sound, and formation for the letters Cc, Nn, and Tt. The children are asked to write each upper and lowercase letter 5 times each as well as draw pictures that begin with the sounds for the letters C, T, and N.

The goal of this lesson is for the children to write a message with the words they came up with for the letters C, N, and T. They are to follow the directions in the writing video as well as put spaced between the words.

The goal of this lesson is for the children to make a prediction and help examine the illustrations of the fairy tale to tell what they think we will learn from the Elves and the Shoemaker. Please send a video back of the children telling what they think we will learn from this fairy tale.

Marvelous Monday! Morning Lessons #1, #2, #3 and a surprise!

Hello Families!

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend! It is such a lovely day full of sunshine!

*Please remember:

  1. I need to have ALL students check in with the 5 assignments each day! These can be viewed and completed at your pace. I am keeping track of all assignments that are turned into me through Whatsapp. PLEASE stay connected to your Whatsapp.
  2. We will have a Google Meet tonight at 7PM to 7:30PM. The children will have fun getting to chat live with each other, myself, Mr. Abu-Rus, and our special area teachers. I will send the link to access the virtual meeting this afternoon.

AND……look!!! We have a surprise for the first day of Earth Day week!!!! (Earth Day is on Wednesday) I ordered a butterfly kit! The larvae (caterpillars) came too! We will learn about these magnificent creatures!

Fun Friday! Lessons and Fun Friday Project for today!

Hello Families!

The goal for this lesson is for the children identify that words like gold can have more than one meaning! I also referenced the word can in this video. The children are asked to find something that is the color gold and something that is the metal gold and send a picture. Or…they can draw these items. Or….you can help them find something else at home that has more than one meaning.

The goal for this lesson is for the children to create a fun Friday project using something they can reuse from the house. I used an empty bread crumbs container. They will create a bird feeder to put outside on a nice day to feed the birds seeds. I added a link to Whatsapp for other ideas in creating bird feeders with your children.

One more thing….the past 2 nights we have been reading The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf. This was such a lovely story! Just for fun, watch this cartoon of the story from Disney I found on You Tube. Afterwards, help your child compare the cartoon story with the story by Munro Leaf! This is a great way to practice comprehension!

Thankful Thursday! Lessons #3, #4, and #5

Hello Families!

Here are the remaining lessons from today that were previously posted on Whatsapp. Thank you for all of the precious videos and messages of your child’s work so far! I love it!

Assignment #3

The goal of this lesson is for the children to use the evidence from the illustrations in the story to tell how the main character, King Midas is feeling. The children are then asked to use a book from home to tell me how the character in that story feels based of the evidence from the illustrations that they find.

The goal of this lesson is for the children to identify the 3 ways to play fair that we have been learning. The children are asked to sing along with me about the 3 ways to play fair; trade, take turns, and playing together.

Assignment #5

The goal of this lesson is for the children to independently create a number bond that represents the picture given to them. The children will orally sort the flowers into 2 groups and count the amount in each group. They will complete the number bond and tell what 2 parts make the whole that is represented in the picture.

Thankful Thursday! Morning Lessons #1 and #2

Hello Families!

Today is Thankful Thursday! Please tell your child what you are thankful for throughout the day as well as encourage them to share what they are thankful for! I am thankful for all of you and your support in showing your child the Whatsapp videos and messages as well as checking in with our blog! Thank you so much!!! I am also thankful for the answered prayers in my own life this week! 🙂

Assignment #1

The goal for this lesson is for the children correctly form the letters Bb, Gg, and Ff in their writing. They will also identify the sound these letters make by drawing a picture that begins with each letter’s sound.

The goal for this lesson is for the children to write a message using words that begin with the sounds of Bb, Ff, and Gg. The children can also practice using spaces between words. Please help your child complete the writing following the directions in the video below.

Wonderful Wednesday!!! SEL; Playing Fair and Math; Part-Part-Whole using Pictures!

Assignment #4

The goal of this lesson is for the students to use a part part whole number bond as they examine the pictures to solve the quantity of the whole group in the picture. They are asked to create the number bond that represents the picture I show at the end of the lesson of the stars and the suns.

The goal of this lesson is for the students to help the children in the picture come up with a fair way to play “Store”. The children are asked to send a picture or video of them playing fairly by trading or taking turns with someone in their family.

Wonderful Wedensday!!! Morning Lessons! (Posted on Whatsapp)

Hello Families!

I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday and hope you all got a chance to view the incredible video on whatsapp at bedtime of Mr. Mustonen, our Communications Director for the district. He did a fun and engaging reading for your children!

Assignement #1

The goal of this lesson is for the students to identify (funny) as a sight word and understand that the letters f u n n y come together to spell this word! Your children are asked to write the word funny 4 times in 4 different colors and tell about something they know of that is funny!

The goal of this lesson is for the students to write a sentence using the word funny for their message! They are also asked to draw a picture to match their writing along with their first and last name at the top of the paper.

Assignment #3

The goal of this lesson is for the students to retell the key details from the story yesterday titled King Midas’s Gold. The students are shown how to retell in a step by step manner using sentence stems/starters. The children are asked to send a video of them retelling the details from the familiar story of King Midas’s Gold using the supports I provided.
