Hello Families!
February 2nd was Groundhog’s Day! On Thursday the children made predictions if the groundhog would see his shadow. 9 predicted yes he would see his shadow and 4 predicted that he would not. We graphed our predictions! We talked about what it means to make a prediction. We also talked what is needed for a shadow to appear. (sun/light) We played with our shadows and traced our friend’s shadow using the Promethean Board and the light from the projector. (Thanks for the great idea, Mrs. Chehab!)
We also practiced narrative writing using a BME organizer and pictures to tell about our field trip. The children placed three pictures in order (BME) We also took turns with our buddies using our BMEs to orally tell our personal narratives to each other! Then they used their knowledge of letter sounds to write a personal narrative about our day. Here are some pictures of what we did!
Oh… by the way…. the groundhog saw his shadow on Friday! So…. it looks like we are going to have 6 more weeks of winter. And… if you heard the weather….looks like Superbowl Sunday will be a snowy one for us! Be careful on the roads if you go out. 🙂
Thanks for all you do!
Mrs. Mehrhof
