Hello Families!
I am looking forward to our first full week of school together! Your child will begin coming to school 8:30-3:35 tomorrow. Please remember to send a healthy afternoon snack. You can also send a water bottle. Please be sure your child’s name is on both their snack and the water bottle.
I sent home emergency cards and some other forms that need your signature. Please return these back to school in your child’s Oakman folder. I am also still collecting 4×6 size family pictures for our classroom. Please send these in too if you have not already. Thank you!!!
Thursday, September 14th is Open House in the evening! Please be sure to visit our school during this fun event! Your child will have a special gift they made to give you at Open House! 🙂
This week I will be sending home scissors (please keep these at home) and cutting practice pages. Please work with your child in using scissors. In addition to this I will be sending home name practice activities. These are their homework this week. Thank you!!
This week we will talk about families and all of the marvelous things that make our families so special! We will also continue to learn classroom routines and procedures. And….this is exciting….we will begin going to our specials this week!

Last Friday we read “The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear” by Audry and Don Wood. In this story the mouse tried so hard to protect the strawberry from the big hungry bear. At the end of the story it is decided that the best way for the big hungry bear not to eat the strawberry is for the little mouse to cut it in half and share it with (the reader; us). So…we practiced cutting out our own red ripe strawberry and then we finger painted the black seeds onto the strawberry. We talked about sharing as well.
